Any phrase with Insanolord in it is guaranteed to be safe.

It's true because Insanolord is such a safe and boring poster. All other forum members post around the forum like this:

But Insanolord posts around the forum like this:

Insanolord is SO lame!

But easy Insanolord mockery aside, what did Stratos choose as the bomb word? I guess we'll never know since I don't go posting the contents of private messages all over these forums.

I'm 100% sure this phrase isn't the bomb word.

Huh. Don't know how that got there but I'm glad it did since it helps clear up who won and who lost. If you're 100% sure this phrase isn't the bomb word, then why did you choose it as the bomb word? That makes no sense. This is like the time you were 100% sure you could do that ring of fire stunt and we all know how that turned out....

Then you said you were 100% sure that putting fireworks in your pants was safe. And we all know how that turned out....

So, choosing to make the phrase you were 100% sure isn't the bomb word into the bomb word was clearly always going to lead to this...

And that's what second place feels like.

This means...

MOP IT UP IS THE WINNER OF SAFE WORDS 8!

Her one bomb word choice took out the top point leader ShyGuy and the other players were unable to take her out with their bomb word choices. She took out the competition with such ease.

Sadly this means she wins the bet and I have to pay her $1,000,000. Thanks a lot, other players! There goes the $1,000,000 I won from Lucariofan99.

Actually, maybe just collect it from Lucariofan99 and cut out the middle man, I say. That would work out the best for everyone.

Well, I hope you all had fun playing this latest Safe Words Adventure. To any who may watch these games but don't participate (of which this may apply to only Pokepal148 since I'm not aware of any other users who watch the game) I hope it was fun for you to follow along. I'll be here for awhile provided I don't end up with another prolonged ban so hopefully, we can see each other again at another Safe Words game! I'm your host, Khushrenada, wishing you all a great today and an even better tomorrow!

And now the moment we've all been waiting for, the updated Safe Words Leaderboard!

As mentioned in previous Safe Word games, the players are all ranked by the F-Zero GX racing point system based on their position. For Safe Words 8, here are the points awarded:

1. Mop it up - 100 points
2. Stratos - 93 points
3. ShyGuy - 87 points
4. Soren - 81 points
5. Silenced - 76 points
6. nickmitch - 71 points
7. Lucariofan99 - 66 points
8. TOPHATANT123 - 62 points
9. NWR_Insanolord - 58 points

If we add the points from this game to the cumulative totals of players for all 8 games, here is the current all-time Safe Words Leaderboard:

1. ShyGuy - 601 points (8 games played)
2. Stratos - 555 points (8 games played)
3. Insanolord - 548 points (8 games played)
4. Soren - 540 points (8 games played)
5. Mop it up - 533 points (7 games played)
6. UncleBob - 478 points (6 games played)
7. Nickmitch - 476 points (7 games played)
8. Triforce Hermit - 430 points (6 games played)
9. Lucariofan99 - 352 points (5 games played)
10. Nuclearspeed - 342 points (5 games played)
11. lolmonade - 316 points (5 games played)
12. Silenced - 299 points (4 games played)
13. oohhboy - 242 points (4 games played)
14. ObbyDent - 180 points (3 games played)
15. Khushrenada - 164 points (3 games played)
16. Evan_B - 118 points (2 games played)
17. Spak-Spang - 116 points (2 games played)
18. TOPHATANT123 - 112 points (2 games played)
19. Ceric - 100 points (1 game played)
20. (tie) Phil - 93 points (1 game played)
20. (tie) Pokepal148 - 93 points (1 game played)
22. BlackNMild2k1 - 76 points (1 game played)
23. ejamer - 47 points (1 game played)
24. Hypotheliciously - 41 points (1 game played)

UncleBob now drops from 3rd to 6th. He may want to think about playing another game as nickmitch is now poised to overtake him next game. ShyGuy breaks the 600 point mark! Don't hold back from participating in a Safe Words game because of your rank or the ranks of others. It's a meaningless stat created for the benefit of those regularly participating who will always do better than non-regulars due to the law of averages in the hopes of getting steady participation each game.

That officially wraps up Safe Words 8.

Let's never ever do this again.   >:(

What about undecided and super delegates? Can I sway their points to clinch the nomination?

All of this political joking makes me want to host a political Safe Words game. Not sure if the mods would permit. Insano, what do you think? We could always demand that it be from an election that is 10 years old, but that may not be as funny. Maybe I just host a Princess Bride game instead. Everyone agrees that is awesome.

Congrats Mop it up! I tried to second guess your guesses and ended up blowing up myself.

I feel like I deserve bonus points in the overall standings since my statement went the whole way.

As for Stratos, I'm afraid real modern politics are off limits.
Insanolord is a terrible moderator.

There are no undecided or super delegates in this game! There's only the super super delegate, me. And I've given my vote to Mop it up. This election is over. You hit the "had sex with seven prostitutes and had it exposed" campaign bomb. Take your defeat like a man and just be content with your finishing position of becoming a CNN political analyst.

Oddly enough, Mop it up was directly in the middle of the picking rotation at the number 5 position and the "Insanolord is safe" was the middle choice of the list I created this game at number 5 if you gander at the second post of this thread. It was all about the middle and number 5.

I'm kind of disappointing in you, Stratos. How could you let the Insanolord phrase be the last one remaining? That just ain't right!

I wonder if it would be better to score players by their average points per game instead of total points, that might change the rating some and make it so that you don't need to play every game to be at the top. I guess it also presents the problem of people playing only one game being at the top.

Hm, I guess this might be a good time to host the next game, I s'pose. I actually have an idea for a twist, which I've had for a while, but think I forgot to post about it here.

The funny thing is I felt like Vizzini (Mr. Inconceivable) when making the selection. I went round and round second guessing what Mop it up would pick until I settled on my unmentioned decision.
Yeah, I was going through the same thing with guessing, so I figured it would just be better to let randomness decide.

Maybe I just host a Princess Bride game instead. Everyone agrees that is awesome.

It's probably been so overhyped at this point that it can't be anything but disappointing, but hopefully you can still see it as a good movie.

Well, using something beside the F-Zero GX rating system would probably do that. If you just got points like 9 points for first place and 1 point for 9th place, you'd probably have a more competitive point system. That way, when the game is small with few players, you can't gain massive points if you do well but large games with 13 players would give the high finishers a few more points which may help if other players go out early.

In this game, the worst you could do is gain 58 points. Compare that to Game 2 where the worst you could get is 38 points. A person could gain 20 points on anyone not playing just by signing up for this game. If the points given out were reduced, then you wouldn't have such gains and the rankings would be closer for anyone who joined.

That said, I don't mind the way things are. I like rewarding regular players and supporting that base with something. Plus, the rankings are pretty much bunched up by how many games a person has played. So, if someone new came along and played 5 games in a row, they would most likely keep moving up the rankings as they caught up to players who had played 1 game, 2 games, 3 games, etc. There can still be movement. The tough part would just be cracking, say, the top ten as time goes by. In the end, it doesn't mean too much. It's just like Mafia games. Winning a lot of games doesn't give you any special powers for future games or make the games themselves uncompetitive. Likewise, these rankings don't do anything to actually affect any of the games played for any user. It just helps create narratives when we get to the end of the game and I want to start building some hype.

WHAT?!? Someone else wants to actually host a Safe Words game? Guess I should bump that Future Safe Words thread....

It's probably been so overhyped at this point that it can't be anything but disappointing, but hopefully you can still see it as a good movie.

For one thing, I think I only really learned about like 8 years ago. I've seen some clips from it since then so I am kind of aware of it. I wouldn't say its been overhyped but most people that bring up recommend it so it's got to have some enjoyment to it. If a movie is good, I can still like it. I finally watched the original Planet of the Apes last year despite knowing the ending and basic story as well as having seen many clips of it over the years and I still liked it. I was quite impressed with how well made and crafted it was and can see why it has created the legacy it has now. I just put off watching it since I'd long known much about the story and had seen the Burton remake years ago.

The Princess Bride seems to be in this category where I feel I know a bunch about it already that it doesn't feel like there might be much surprise to it which is why I've put it off to see other films of which I don't know what surprises they may hold in store. One thing I find is that highly acclaimed movies get that way for a reason and can hold up no matter when you watch them. I finally saw Taxi Driver 2 weeks ago and was greatly impressed by that and how relevant it still is. I put it off because I'm not a big fan of Scorsese. I've seen other films of his that are highly regarded but didn't care for like Raging Bull or Gangs of New York. With Taxi Driver, the critical praise matched my regard for the film as well.

So, while I may not always agree with the critical consensus, more often than not, I probably will which means there is a good chance I will enjoy the movie when I watch it someday. As I continue to keep knocking off various classics I have yet to watch, I'll most likely get around to scratching that one off the list some time as well.
