I had a CS teacher in my first year of University who I really didn't like.  She was a horrible teacher, rude to her students, and didn't even have a sufficient knowledge of the subject she was teaching.  (Introductory C++).  She gave me a C+ in that class, and the next year I found out she was dying of cancer.  I just kind of smirked.

I got an A+ the next year from a much better teacher in Advanced C++.

Ha!  Got a C+ in C++!!

But still, how can any of you guys even smirk if you hear someone you know is dying?

Actually, now that I think of it, there is a substitute that I guess I would care if she died.  She's about 300 years old anyway, she could even be dead already...oh well.

KnowsNothing, I am not much like the person in my avatar.  I really don't care about life and death.  To me, they are the same.  But when people die, it means they no longer have the ability to annoy me.

I guess.  But have you ever had anybody really close to you die?  One that never really annoyed you?  Or does everyone annoy you?

Sorry if this is too personal.

I have had 2 people really close to me die.  I am not saying much more than that.  Suffice to say, that might very well be the reason that I no longer feel strongly one way or the other about death.

Sorry.  I meant to say that you didn't have to reply, but I forgot.

If I by any chance made you relive some not so great memories, I apologize.  I was just curious as to why you feel the same about life and death.

Wow...I totally forgot this thread was about th history of the internet.  It's funny how most threads in General Chat go off into some wild tangent, and it's fun to see how the discussion actually formed.  Then again, this is "General Chat" so I guess that's what this section was meant to be.

I remember what happened to the thrid person. This chick really pissed me off really badly, I mean really personal and well she seems to now always have a broken bone somewhere. She was somewhat hot and I still somewhat still like her regardless, so I guess thats why she an'it dead yet.
