A new Fatal Frame game is coming to Wii U in Japan from Nintendo and Tecmo Koei.

Like most of the recent entries in the series, Nintendo will publish and Temco Koei will develop. The series will also branch out into several other types of media, including a live-action movie and a original novel due later this year in Japan.

There is no word on a specific title or a release date for the upcoming game. Additionally, there is no assurance this new Fatal Frame game will even make it out of Japan.

The last Fatal Frame game to come out in North America was the spin-off Spirit Camera: The Cursed Memoir on 3DS in 2012. Project Zero 2, a Wii remake of the second game in the series, also came out in 2012, but only in Japan and Europe. The last original game in the series only came out in Japan in 2008.

Feel like with the eshop now, we will at least see a digital release here in the US. Need games of any kind at this point. And not like another average Zombi U is coming.

Okay, I'll accept a lot of things levied against Zombi U--- Clunky controls (INTENTIONAL!), Unimpressive graphics, or being so incredibly frightening and tense that it actually discourages extended playing.   Oh, and the story is kinda dumb.   But average?  Average?   I don't know about that.

Hmm...that reminds me: I really need to get around to playing my copy of Fatal Frame 2 for the Wii one of these days. I played the PS2 version years ago, but haven't gotten around to playing the Wii version yet.

As for this news, well, I hope it's good. We never got Fatal Frame 4 here in the States, so I wonder if this "new" Fatal Frame may be a repackaging of that game with better controls. Still, good to see a new entry in the series. Hopefully it makes it stateside for once.
