OUYA!

What in the blazes am I supposed to do with this thing? I mean, I'm not complaining since it was free (Entertainment Tonight sent it today) but what does it do? It's not quite a Roku(no hulu or netflix) and it's not just an Android tablet. It reminds me of a Vita Tv from what I know of that device. It has ok specs and it looks like I can get XBMC and VLC to work but other than that, I'm looking for guidance on my BRAND NEW OUYA!

Any other owners in here wanna help me out with some basics and secrets?

It didn't get the following that it should have, but go to xda forums and see if anything interests you. It's great for emulators everything through N64/PSX, and RetroArch is awesome. I have one too, btw. You can install Drastic (DS emulator) too, and use the touchpad (no video though) and the controller to play DS games on your TV. Kind of fun.

I have on of the first kickstarters one and I've only used it once.  I keep saying I'm going to but I don't know where the controller is now...

Looks like my bedroom tv has a new media player. One less soul made to be a sacrifice for the great beast. (comcast)

The only issue with watching videos I've seen is after about 70 minutes you get a lot of framedrops - I don't know if this is an XBMC issue (that's what I use) or what. You can also turn it on it's side and it runs a bit cooler, that may actually help with the frame drop issue, but that could also be software related. Stopping and restarting usually fixes it (if not always). I'm doing Android programming at school this semester, and taking Game Design, so hopefully I'll have something of my own to run on it in a few months.

Is there a reason should be using XBMC over VLC? All my anime and stuff is either .mkv or .avi and VLC never gives me a hard way to go about it? Also, I'm a dinosaur and gave been using vlc since this place had POWERS, RICK POWERS!

I use it for streaming video, don't think I've tried any local video on it. I remember Rick Powers, he invited me into the secret wrestling forum (that is now the funhouse I believe).

Amazon App Store? From my computer of on the Ouya itself? Didn't know the damned thing even had a browser. Side loading? Never heard of it but I will do the leg work and see what comes up shinny. Thanks Perm, lets see how this goes.
