Connectibite: E3 Nintendo Direct Reaction
« on: June 11, 2013, 11:00:04 PM »

The gang discusses today's E3 Nintendo Direct.

http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/connectivity/34577

After a bevy of buffering issues, Nintendo's E3 Direct came and went, and in its wake was no shortage of emotion, both positive and negative. Tonight, JP, Zach, Scott, and Patrick reflect on the Direct and do their best to approach the whole thing in a measured and thoughtful way.

Is New Super Luigi U a July release? If so, it would be a candidate for Nintendo's release that month, no?

Well, at least it has an average release month of July.

WWHD uses the touch screen for the wind waker controls. The songs looked really sped up in the video.

Also, I really like challenge of Spring Mario.

Am I the only one who is upset that Kingdom Hearts III is not coming to Wii U? I figured it was a shoe in given the fact that the series has appeared on multiple Nintendo platforms. Now I actually might have to get a PS4 (but definitely not an Xbox One).

Zack in reference to DKCR on Wii - 'I don't think that game looks very good'

Are you high? That game was one of the prettiest on the platform.

I agree with Zack that it didn't look very good.  The style was on the generic side, without much charm, and technically it lagged behind big games like Galaxy and Skyward Sword.  On the bright side, I think the new game has improved character design.  Like the first game (and seemingly reusing some of its assets), the backgrounds are more impressive in their complexity and attention to detail than in their design.

Regardless, I am much more excited for DKCR than for Mario 3D.  The tables will turn when Nintendo shows the next marquee Mario title.

Fair enough. Personally, I think you're both crazy. I thought DKCR looked lush and vibrant, and I thought the art style was charming.
