Batman Arkham Origins is a Silver Age-inspired prequel and could be revealed at this year's E3, a recent report suggests.

Unnamed industry sources purportedly told French outlet Gameblog that the third instalment in the popular Arkham series, once again in development at Rocksteady Studios, will take place before the events of the previous two games in a story linked to the Batman comics of the 1950s and '60s. In addition, fellow Justice League of America members Superman and Green Lantern are said to be involved in the game.

The source also claims that the game will be released in Q3 2013. Although none of these game details have been confirmed, publisher Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment did state in a recent investor's briefing that a new Batman Arkham title would be out before the end of the year.

Batman Arkham City: Armored Edition, the previous entry in the franchise, was released at the launch of the Wii U in November 2012.

I have city on Wii U and I like the story and graphics, but the gameplay I'm not good at stealth games and I am failing. The combat with batman seems button smash and not that interesting.


I am not that far into the game but it hasn't grabbed my attention to hook me. The story is great but the gameplay just is meh to me. I guess i just suck at stealth games, but I finished MGS on gamecube.....

Try going into the challenge rooms & try button mashing in the combat. See how far that gets you. Seriously, there's a great deal of timing & strategic thinking in that combat system as you learn to build and maintain your combos for maximum efficiency. You just haven't discovered it yet.

As for the stealth, most of it in the Arkham series is built around distraction and isolation: picking the mobs out one by one by using your gadgets in creative ways (unfortunately for Arkham City, I thought Asylum introduced you to this better) until you can take down the remainder in exceptionally easier ways.  It just takes some getting used to.

On a side note, whenever I've seen this game rumored online, it was only mentioned as a PS4 and Durango game. No word on a Wii U version. We'll see if that comes to pass at E3.

If this rumor pans out, it'll probably be one of the games I'm most looking forward too. I'm not the patient type so the stealth aspects broodwars mentioned sometimes get the best of me (take two out, wait... eh, jump down Rambo style and promptly get killed) but I love the open world aspects of the games and how you have to learn to fight smarter as the game progresses.

My fave is definitely Asylum, but all the DC easter eggs were awesome in City. Though the rumored game's details are interesting, I've always wondered if the Justice League and its heroes existed in this game's world. The others could end up being annoying tho...
