Can't you give Steam games to friends? Though I heard that was now possible.

Not if he has activated it into his library. If he still has a copy of the game in item form he can give that to you. You can now buy a copy even if you already have the game unlike before (Massive oversight), so he can buy you a new copy, but he can't give you the copy he has played/opened. It can be done via inventory trade or e-mail.

I didn't think about that. Gonna have to come up with a new way to get it.

Steam is having a 2K Games sale this weekend.  The base Civ 5 game is currently 25.

The last couple nights I've been playing a multiplayer game of this with my roommates, and it's been the greatest thing ever. I've always loved this series, but playing with friends knocks it up another notch. Throwing smack talk across the room, as well as plotting against the AI players (those fucking Americans need to be taken care of, and it's going to be at the hands of a German-Indian alliance) makes for a great time.

Yeah, I was lucky enough to have two other guys in my dorm who played Civ so we actually got to pull off a game or two. Never finished any but they were fun. That was on Civ 4.

We've probably played 2-3 hours a night over the course of 5 or 6 nights, and we still haven't quite finished our game. We're getting close; we're into the 1800s, and we've basically come to an understanding that we're going to make sure a human, and not one of the AI players we included, is the winner. Of the four of us, only two have a realistic shot at it, with me in a race against the Arabs to Alpha Centauri, and my friend Jimmy whose only real hope is a score victory, since even though he's all but eliminated the Americans he doesn't have the time left to conquer the world.

I am hugely excited for the expansion pack after playing a lot more of this game. A revamped religion mechanic and the introduction of espionage options are very appealing, and I won't have to wait too long since it was just recently announced to be coming out June 19.

I love this game! I have friends that bought the game at launch and recommended it to me. However, I didn't get it because I was generally disappointed with Civ IV. Some people might think I am crazy, but I just did not like that game. However, a couple months ago I was with them and they forced me to play a hotseat game with them. Those games are incredibly slow, but nevertheless, I starting loving this game. I bought it a couple of weeks ago, when they had a Steam deal that allowed be to buy the game and all the DLC for twelve bucks.

After playing the game a lot, I preordered the DLC, which comes out tomorrow! I am really sad that I have to work tomorrow, but I know what I will be doing when I come home. I am most looking forward to the Ethiopian Civilization since I like small, focused empires. All the other additions look awesome as well.
