2:55:14: We're 5 minutes from the start of the show.
3:00:26: Iwata talking
3:01:16: Iwata giving Japanese lessons: "Dokuso" - Creating something unique
3:01:38: Nintendo will make you say this week "Well that certainly is unique. Hopefully you will think of that in a good way"
3:02:33: Nintendo Direct today is an introduction to the Wii U hardware.
3:03:31: Iwata referencing book "Alone Together" - new tech have made life easier but have created separations within people. Presumably Nintendo assumes they can fix this.
3:03:48: "Unite people in the same room or great distances" INTERNET IS A THING!
3:04:18: Wii U controller has a name - "Wii U GamePad"
3:04:58: NES controller was flat - so people called it a "GamePad." Wii U is also a "Pad"
3:05:40: Wii U GamePad has replaced the CirclePads we saw last year with the regular sticks. They have clicky sticks.
3:06:03: Back of controller now has grips on the back and a new button layout.
3:06:18: NFC Reader/Writer added below the D-Pad: HELLO SKYLANDERS!
3:06:45: TV Control button on the Wii - SWEET! A NEW DEVICE TO CONTROL MY TV!
3:07:34: Wii U golf demo video returns. This is probably a game.
3:08:04: Iwata is talking about Asymmetric gameplay. Showing WiiSports Baseball. So yes, we have a WiiSports.
3:08:32: Same videos as last year continues. The Wii U GamePad they have even has the old button layout. AT LEAST REPLACE THE PAD WITH THE NEW ONE!
3:09:02: Iwata reconfirms Motion and Gyro in the Wii U GamePad. Shows more WiiSports Baseball.
3:09:59: Play on the GamePad even when the TV is in use "sometimes." interesting caveat.
3:10:39: Replaying Zelda footage from last year. Now next to a fruit bowl
3:11:12: Wii U Pro Controller - looks JUST LIKE a 360 controller with the PS3 layout.
3:12:03: Old images of families "play together" with Wii.
3:12:18: "Wii U does what Wii did, even better. But it also does something entirely new."
3:12:37: HEY AN EXAMPLE!
3:13:00: "Something totally unique when you hear the term Game Video."
3:13:26: Video of a nerdy dude playing a zombie game. His "punches are ineffectual."
3:13:44: "If I can't beat this zombie boss I'll end up talking to myself as a crazy person" End up?
3:14:05: He just posted to his "peeps" looking for his help on how to beat that game.
3:14:28: Wii U feed is on this annoying guy's phone.
3:14:44: "It's a pain in a capital B" - Warren.

3:15:17: Something about swollen glands.
3:15:43: VIDEO CALL! OLD DUDE ON A RASCAL SCOOTER
3:16:11: "Have you upgraded your scanner ding-dong." What is this!? JUST SAY WE HAVE VIDEO WII SPEAK!
3:16:48: Todd beat a zombie. 80s success metal. Somebody just won an arm wrestling contest.
3:17:10: Mii Plaza seemed to have people crowding around game logos
3:17:46: Oh wow, that's the Wii U Menu. They call it, I'm serious, "Mii Wara Wara"
3:18:32: "Wara Wara" is Japanese for the general noise of a crowd milling about. The Miis making noise are not random. It is you, your family on your wii U, your Wii Friends, and people from your country playing the games
3:18:55: They launch speech bubbles of people talking about games. Apparently you can draw too. This will end badly.
3:19:24: Characters gather around games they're playing and talk about them. This is the "Miiverse"
3:19:53: Iwata felt the need to tell us that Miiverse is not a real world. It is a place where Miis from around the world can meet and connect.
3:20:13: Miiversse can be used while games are currently in-play.
3:20:55: Miis can communicate via "simple text messaging." However the touch screen can "make some difference." Online PictoChat? Oh dear.
3:21:54: You can add a facial expression of your Mii to convey "emotions."
3:22:21: Gameplay screenshots and user created content can be sent via Miivers.
3:23:05: Miiverse speech bubbles can show up in game. New Super Mario Bros Wii U shown with pop-up speech bubbles showing strategy.
3:23:16: Miiverse will "attempt to avoid spoilers."

3:25:06: The Miiverse will be available via any internet enabled device. Including 3DS.
3:25:25: Part of Nintendo Network. Future devices will use it
3:26:13: Wii U GamePad is designed to "enhance" connections fostered by Wii.
3:26:50: Wii U GamePad shown with a browser. It can be shared with the TV content.
3:27:16: You can hide content on the TV screen via a curtain. I'm serious.
3:27:56: "A great idea solves multiple problems at the same time." Shigeru Miyamoto
3:28:32: Iwata feels the Wii U does this. It will help solve the issue of "alone together." In enables the sharing of "more smiles, more laughs, and more empathy."
3:28:55: "Together. Better." - Iwata on Wii U
3:29:42: Sounds like he's wrapping up. Iwata is selling the on-stage meeting.
3:30:22: Sounds like the 3DS is going to get sold a bit short at the press conference. News for it will be offered at "other opportunities."
3:30:33: Iwata selling a hasttag #IwataSays
3:30:45: And we're done.
