SpotPass TV Canceled in Japan
« on: May 12, 2012, 04:43:09 AM »

Hearts are broken and souls are shattered as Nintendo pulls the plug on the free 3DS 3D video service.

http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/news/30122

Itsu no Ma ni Terebi, also known as SpotPass TV, is going to be shut down for good on June 20 in Japan. The service, which launched on June 19, 2011, is a joint service between Nihon TV and Fuji TV that brings free 3D video content to Nintendo 3DS users in Japan. Types of content included programming teaching you how to do magic tricks, Japanese idol sumo wrestling, sports, 3D dating, and more. There was no reason given for the cancelation.

You can read more about some of the content that was included in service here.

Danny I think you're the only guy who'd be upset by this news.
I'm just glad to clear some clutter off my home screen! :P:

The only thing I liked was the animal thing like 1 out of 10 times, everything else was just stupid!
Nintendo Video app is way better, Kid Icarus anime, Kirby anime, music videos, Shaun the Sheep - all hotness all the time! (by that I mean once a month, maybe)

But Nintendo Video can't take you on 3D dates, train rides (now they're going places by boat through rivers in Tokyo!), and learn lame magic tricks! Clearly, the big wigs behind Nintendo Video are all part of some kind of conspiracy to eliminate the superior 3DS video application.

LOL as the overwhelming response in this comment thread and the bitter responses of Danny and James indicate, the removal of this service will not be taken lightly. #operationrainfall2

This comes the day after the news that Nintendo is discontinuing the Aqua Blue system too... What's next?
This is where I would write something witty or funny if I had any ideas.

If need be, I'll continue the service all by myself. I'm sure I can record the idol segments all by myself. Having a sumo match with myself...in a bikini?
