New Hardware in 2005?
« on: May 19, 2003, 04:03:31 PM »
Nintendo is saying new hardware within a few months of sony's new system.  Assuming that they really do it this time, wouldnt that be short cycling the Cube?  My opinion is that they can bring out new hardware, without short cycling the Cube.  Sony did it when they released PS2.  Look how long PS1 games were still being made.  Hell, there might still be some new one's coming out.  I am talking about backwards compatability,  I can see no reason for nintendo's next system not to have it, especially if they are bringing it out before Cube's 5 year life span is up.  I do agree that nintendo would be making a good move by launching closer to PS3, might as well go toe to toe with them, got nothing to lose.

It's also more likely thanks to the optical media.  They don't need to include any adapters or hold on to old tech.  They just need a way to ID old disks and then run that software.

What i think they should do after they release the new system, is make the Gamecube become like the PS keep developing games for it then make it a little bit thinner and put a included screen on it, and it would become a good system to put in peoples cars.

"this time"

Yeah, I really don't think nintendo plans on actually releasing in 2005.  I still believe it will be a mid-2006 before any next generation launches.   They just say 2005 to see if any of the other manufactures jump the gun and releases premature.

My guess nintendo won't launch until the an amp amount of software is already which states 2-3 years at min.  Plus you really don't want to launch prior to Sony/MS without knowing what the system can DO.  NO sense to release a console just to be kicked in the teeth 1 year later (DC anyone).

It's all about timing.

Ken oath to that, remember the days when the nes was the only machine! Im sick of getting bated by ps 2 owners, theyll give any game company a lisence to make games, were after quality not quantity. We shouldnt wait six months to see what the ps3 can do before we realease the next one ( the next one should be a ball The "the gameball") released with monkey ball 4 hahahaha, we will make sony pay BIG!
