Nintendo Unveils Kid Icarus: Uprising Pre-Order Details
« on: January 19, 2012, 04:42:53 PM »

3DS owners can receive 3D Classics: Kid Icarus at select retailers, game will come with 3DS stand.

http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/news/29014

Pre-ordering Kid Icarus: Uprsing at GameStop, Best Buy, or Amazon will earn North American customers a download code for 3D Classics: Kid Icarus, a remastered version of the NES original. The remake, though faithful to the original, contains new backgrounds and 3D graphics.

Download codes for 3D Classics: Kid Icarus were previously given away in Europe as part of a Club Nintendo promotion.

Nintendo has also revealed that a new difficulty scale called "Fiend's Cauldron" will be included in the game. The scale allows the player to adjust the "intensity" of the experience from 0.0 to 9.0. High difficulty will reward the player with more hearts and better weapon drops from defeated enemies can be collected. Nintendo states that the "standard" difficulty is 2.0, and notes that the scale can be changed in incriments of 0.1.

Nintendo of America has also confirmed that customers in North America will, like those in Japan, will receive a stand for the 3DS with the purchase of Kid Icarus: Uprising. The stand is designed to free both of the player's hands to control the game.

Kid Icarus: Uprising launches March 23 in North America.

Kid Icarus was hard enough, who wants it even harder? Still glad to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it!

HUMMM, i want the stand and download code, but i have enough games and
the stand i'm sure will be on ebay by summer, so i think i'll spend the money
on more urgent things, like that new phone i need, but if extra money comes my way, i'll get it.

Hmm, this might make it a day one pick up for me...

Just a side note... has anyone else noticed that the stuff that released in Europe first (and everyone bitched about how much NoA hates gamers) is slowly starting to appear here in the states?

Neato. I have to say that I'm going to pre-order this now. Thanks, Nintendo!

LameStop, Worst Buy and Amazoff?  Come on, Nintendo... what about us loyal Walmart shoppers? :(

I preordered the game on Amazon as soon as I saw this, though I most likely would have done so at some point between now and launch even without it. Free release day delivery because of Amazon Prime plus the bonus.

I did the same - Amazon pre-order immediately after seeing this news.  I didn't see in the press release where they added "fun" to the original, but I love playing retro games on the 3DS.

I would preorder it, but I don't even have a 3DS yet (still waiting on the revision).

I've been lukewarm on this game, not sure if I'll dig the controls.
Then Ninty pushes me over the edge with a free stand (read: band-aid for the dumb control scheme) and a free downoad code for a 3D Classic (a $5 or $6 value!) And all for MSRP of $39.99, which I can certainly live with.

Damn, it's like Nintendo is READING MY MIND!!!!!!

I was going to pre-order anyway and this is a fine bonus.

I've played the original KI and it wasn't really any fun.  Largely because I do recall it was overly difficult.  Perhaps the ability to dial down the difficulty will make things bearable.

Regardless, it's the 3DS game itself that I'm really psyched about =)

So, when is Nintendo going to start handing out the redeem codes? I'd like to preorder, but are codes going out as soon as you preorder?

I would imagine that you won't get the code until after you get the game, so that you can't use the code and then cancel your pre-order, essentially getting the code for free.

Ah, true. Haha, I didn't even think of that. Not that I would have. I'm really psyched for Kid Icarus: Uprising.

...which is silly, when you think about it - if I just bought a $40 3DS title that's supposed to be really awesome, why would I want to spend time playing an old NES game?

I'm not sure the best way to do it, but it'd sure be swell to be able to play/re-play the original KI before the new one comes out...

To be fair, the NES game and the 3DS game have essentially nothing in common beyond the name and story conceits. That's like saying why would you want to spend time with two completely different games at the same time.

That may be the case - but they're offering it as a pre-order exclusive for the new KI game - obviously, they're trying to tie the two together.

It just seems there should be *some* way to offer it to pre-ordering folks to play before they pick up their copy of the game.  Perhaps they could put it up for purchase and include a code inside the cartridge release that either downloads it for you *or*, if you've already bought it, credits your account for the cost of the game?  I dunno...

I have been checking the pre-order pages at Gamestop, Best Buy and Amazon (Canada versions for all) and have seen nothing yet regarding the stand or the 3D Classics download code. Gamestop and Best Buy have just put up a pre-order bonus notice for AR cards, but that's it. It's driving me nuts. Are we sure the stand and code are confirmed for North America?

Edit: I see Amazon.com (U.S. site) has info on the code and the photo gallery has the stand (though there's no text stating that the game ships with a stand).
Maybe the Canadian sites are just slow, or Canada isn't getting these things?

Kid Icarus was hard enough, who wants it even harder? Still glad to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it!

The difficulty selector is for Uprising, not the 3D Classic.
