The decision was made to assist in the restructuring of the company. UPDATE: Cancelled titles were unannounced.

Ubisoft has announced that they have cancelled several titles in favor of reorganizing the roles and operations of many of their studios.

The announcement was described during their financial report as a restructuring exercise. The official Ubisoft statement is as follows:

"Ubisoft has taken measures to adapt its structure to major changes in the industry by reorganising the roles and operations of its studios, which has resulted in the termination of certain projects."

No word was given as to what titles were cancelled in the process, but the long-delayed Beyond Good and Evil 2 is rumored to have been one of them.

UPDATE: Ubisoft has commented to Eurogamer that the cancelled titles were all unannounced games, and Beyond Good and Evil 2 is still in development. A Ubisoft representative stated that "Terminated projects were unannounced projects,".

So long as one of the canceled games wasn't a sequel to Prince of Persia 2008 (or any other Prince of Persia game, for that matter), that's fine with me.  We're probably being spared another Rabbids game or something else not noteworthy, since the two big games everyone thought were on the chopping block (Beyond Good & Evil 2 and I Am Alive) have been confirmed to still be in production.
There was a Signature here. It's gone now.

Ubisoft already released another statement earlier today stating that
Beyond Good & Evil is not one of the cancelled games.

Last night Ubisoft announced it had cancelled a number of planned titles as part of an internal restructuring exercise.

"Ubisoft has taken measures to adapt its structure to major changes in the industry by reorganising the roles and operations of its studios, which has resulted in the termination of certain projects," Ubisoft said in its financial report.

"Terminated projects were unannounced projects," a Ubisoft spokesperson told Eurogamer this morning.

However, when asked for an update on both games[BG&E2 & I Am Alive], all Ubisoft would offer was: "We have nothing new to report on those two titles for the moment."
