ESRB Reveals Third-Party 3DS Virtual Console Games
« on: May 11, 2011, 01:21:00 AM »

Two Jaleco-published Game Boy games could be the first third-party games released on the service.

Avenging Spirit and Fortified Zone, both Game Boy games from Jaleco, are coming to the 3DS eShop if the ESRB's listings are correct.

Avenging Spirit, which came out in 1992, is a port of an arcade game. The side-scrolling platformer stars a ghost who must possess bodies in order to try to avenge his death and save his girlfriend.

Released in 1991, Fortified Zone is a top-down shoot-'em-up where you can switch between two different characters at the press of a button.

The 3DS eShop is launching sometime this month.

Oh man, I knew that they wouldn't launch with any "big guns' but still...old Jaleco games?

Hopefully the rest of the lineup on launch fairs a little better.  Say it with me!  "Metroid 2.  Metroid 2.  Metroid 2!"

Oh yeah, I know I have 2 sealed copies of that game.   1 is for trading.  But people who collect Amiibos?  They really have a problem!

I'm curious about how these will look on the 3DS.

I always really wanted Fortified Zone but we couldn't afford many games back then.  Now's my chance!  :D

Kinda sucks that I'm looking forward to playing a lot of old Gameboy games on my 3DS because there's no other worthwhile software on there at the mo.
