Nintendo's multiplayer hits see a new price later in the month.

Nintendo announced today that two of their biggest Wii titles, Wii Party and Wii Sports Resort will drop in price. Both games will be priced at $39.99 from April 25.

Wii Sports Resort was original released in North America on July 26, 2009, and has sold over 10.7 million copies in North America. The title is a sequel to the Wii-pack in title, Wii Sports, and it is a showcase title for the Wii MotionPlus peripheral.

Wii Party is a mini-game party title developed by the team behind the Mario Party series. The game was released on October 3, 2010.

It took Wii Sports Resort almost two years to get a price drop while Wii Party gets one in six months? That's interesting. =P
This is where I would write something witty or funny if I had any ideas.

Notice that sales information for Wii Party was not given.

Needless to say, it probably didn't sell as much as WSR did in the same period. However, Wii Music has not been given an official (or at least announced) price drop even though it's the least successful (but Amazon is currently selling it for $29.99).

Wii Party? More like Wii BOMBA.

Though I once saw Wii Music as a Gamestop/EB deal of the day for $10.

I wouldn't call Wii Party a bomb, it did sell at least 5 million. Though it is small compared to Wii Sports and Wii Fit.

WiiParty sold 5 mill already?

Did Nintendo say that or are you getting that number from somewhere else?

Nintendo stated it:

It's the worldwide figure though, not the US one. Still, I'm surprised that any Nintendo games would receive a price drop, given their stance on them. They probably aren't going to make a big deal out of it or change the packaging like the old Player's Choice games... I wonder if they will even advertise it.

These are both games I don't see make a transition to the next system from a perspective of people buying older games.

This is a sure sign that times are changing. We're seeing price drops for Wii hardware and games which is the opposite of how it used to be where neither Wii games nor Wii hardware was ever marked down. Iwata himself said they weren't going to ever mark the price of the games down, but it looks like he must have changed his mind.
is your sanity...

You know, the newest versions of Wii Sports Resort include a Wii Remote Plus... if those drop to $30, that's a pretty sweet deal.
Just some random guy on the internet who has a different opinion of games than you.

Iwata Right Price strategy.  Notice the games people would probably go back to haven't had a price drop yet.  All this is starting me to think that we're going to get the next console sooner then later and I wouldn't be to surprise in the coming week that we hear Wii production has stopped and we're coasting with inventory at hand.
