The video-on-demand service will end in Japan this October.

Fujisoft announced today that it will be discontinuing its 'Everyone's Theatre Wii' channel this October. Due to the cancellation of the service, the ability to purchase the channel will be removed from the Wii Shop Channel on April 30.

This video-on-demand service launched in Japan in January 2009. To access the service, Wii owners were required to purchase a 500-Nintendo-Point WiiWare title. Pricing for streaming content cost players an additional 100 to 400 Nintendo Points.

Fujisoft cites that the reason for the cancellation is that the service has lost its uniqueness, as Wii owners can now access video content in other ways, such as on smartphones and PCs.
