Anniversary Bundles and Wii Remote Plus Confirmed for US
« on: October 21, 2010, 10:10:11 AM »

The red Anniversary edition consoles and Wii Remote Plus will be released in November.

http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/news/24335

Four new products are launching from Nintendo on November 7.

The first of these is the limited edition Red Wii Bundle for Mario's 25th Anniversary. Again there is a slight difference to the package for this region with the box containing a red Wii, red Wii Remote Plus and nunchuk, New Super Mario Bros. Wii, and Wii Sports at a suggested retail price of $199.99.

On the handheld side, it seems only the Red Anniversary edition DSi XL is on the horizon, bundled with Mario Kart DS for $179.99.

The Wii Remote Plus becomes the new standard for the Wii Remote, and as well as being available for individual purchase it will also be included in all hardware bundles and packages for the Wii from now on. White, black, blue, and pink models will be available for a suggested price of $39.99.

Finally, the FlingSmash/Wii Remote Plus bundle is now official and set at $49.99.

Images of the above products are in our gallery below.

Is FlingSmash only available with a black Wii Remote Plus?

All my Wii stuff is white--I want a bundle with a white controller.
Why must all things be so bright? Why can things not appear only in hues of brown! I am so serious about this! Dull colors are the future! The next generation! I will never accept a world with such bright colors! It is far too childish! I will rage against your cheery palette with my last breath!

So we're getting the hardware bundles from the 25th anniversary, but no confirmation of a US release for the Mario All-Stars special edition?  Gee...thanks, Nintendo of America.   ::)

I'm with broodwars. They need to get the game out here, and no, CLUB NINTENDO DOESN'T COUNT.

But everything else? Let's just say that I am having a hard time trying to figure out what I want for Christmas ;) .

Club Nintendo is the perfect way to release the All-Stars anniversary edition... not that I think that will happen.

I'm glad to see all this stuff being announced for America after it was confirmed for all the other regions. What I don't understand is the red Wii bundle including NSMBWii and Wii Sports. It has a Wii Remote Plus but no game that uses the Plus feature.

I want a black Plus and will consider the Fling Smash bundle, if the game gets positive reviews.

It makes perfect sense to me.  It fits right in there with Nintendo's overall strategy on Wii of selling you accessories that they have little interest in actually supporting.  ::)

Nintendo should just take 10 minutes to combine WiiSports and WiiSports Resort into WSR+ on one disc and get it over with.

every single game from WiiSports not included on WSR would benefit from a M+ version, so they really should just do it already and get it over with.
Tennis, Baseball and especially boxing could use the boost in accuracy that a WSR version would have provided.

The only sad thing about the bundle is that New Super Mario Brothers Wii doesn't come in that spiffy red case!

I'm also surprised Nintendo haven't combined Wii Sports and Wii Sports Resort onto one disc, it would save them money on manufacturing costs.

Oh they will do it alright.  Then they will charge full price for it.  Probably as a launch title for the "Wiivo"

It seems weird that this bundle will not include Wii Sports Resort since WSR has been part of the standard package for 6 months now. I may get this, although it seems odd not to include a game that requires Wii Motion Plus with it. Do they even still sell Wii Sports Resort by itself anymore? If not, how does Nintendo expect new Wii owners to get the game? Other than trying to find a used copy, I mean.

I'm pretty sure they sell the game still TJ.As for no Motion Plus games in the bundle Nintendo is planning ahead and putting Wii Remote Plus in there to make sure it is in there for the upcoming Motion + games in 2011.

I'm starting to wonder if there will be any Wii games in 2011, much less any MotionPlus games. Other than Zelda and Conduit 2, which meet both criteria, I can't think of anything in particular right now.

All of the usual sports titles will use M+ I'm sure.

Grinder, Reginleiv (if released here) and New Carnival Games will use the M+. New Carnival will even have an M+ bundle version.

~Oh, New Carnival games is already released. Came out last month.

I also wouldn't be surprised to see a few Move downports somewhere down the line especially if Move doesn't exactly move like 3rd parties are hoping it will.

I think Nintendo has more planned for Wii than just Zelda, Mario Sports Mix, and Fluidity. We first learned about Kirby Epic Yarn and Donkey Kong's Country Returns at this year's E3, so I would expect there to be game announcements at the one next year. We may even see surprise game announcements like what happened with ExciteBots, and I expect Pikmin 3 at some point next year. I've no idea if they have any other Motion Plus games, though.

Problem is that M+ is already a missed opportunity. Yeah alot of people own it, but there are little more than a dozen games that support the peripheral at this point and most of them aren't worth mentioning.

How missed of an opportunity is it? Nintendo isn't even bundling M+ software with their premiere Wii M+ Anniversary bundle this holiday season.
how hard would it be to just combine WS w/ WSR and call it a day. why push a bundle with the new Wiimote+ and not have any software that actually uses it bundled in?

to ramp up support of an add-on that was released almost 1.5 years ago but only after the competition has decided to challenge you on it, is a very missed opportunity. I think Move will have more dedicated games for it than M+ by the years end and Move just came out.

Well, Nintendo loves money. Give them a 'free' M+ then say "Hey, kids! You can get WSR now since you got an M+!" Could boost sales of WSR. Also preps people for the release of Skyward Sword. Like how the N64 Expansion Pak came bundled with DK64 in preparation for Majora's Mask.

Plus people who have a special controller may decide to go out and look for games that actually use it like FlingSmash and Red Steel 2.

Except it would seem FlingSmash is not available without a Wii Remote Plus, which is a bad move.

Actually I saw that Newegg is selling it by itself the other day.

They must have taken the controller out then, Nintendo's own e-mail promoting the game says that every copy of the game comes with a Wii Remote Plus.
