Force Unleashed 2/Thor/General Red Fly Studio Questions
« on: September 06, 2010, 10:57:17 PM »
So we got an interview lined up with Red Fly Studio, who made Mushroom Men, Ghostbusters Wii, Food Network Wii, and the upcoming Force Unleashed 2 Wii version and Thor Wii version.

Force Unleashed 2 and Thor are both unique titles from their 360/PS3 counterparts as Red Fly has apparently proved their worth as a viable Wii third party. FU2 has been labeled as a 'companion piece' to the 360/PS3 version, and has a four-player Smash Bros.-esque multiplayer mode.

If anyone wants to throw some questions into the fire, do so! I'll give you guys until something like this Thursday night/Friday morning aka whenever I pop on here Friday and compile everything.

Same engine as GB?  any lessons from GB learned?  When working against the other systems and having a separate house for development, what are the negatives and positives related to those games developments.

I'm not really interested in the other titles, but I played Mushroom Men shortly after finishing Super Mario Galaxy 2 since I was still in the mood for a platformer. It's a pretty good game, I'd say the only things holding it back are the sometimes spotty control and low framerate.

I guess my only question would be... "Do you have any interest in creating another game in the Mushroom Men series?"

I'll throw that question in, but I have talked to people from Red Fly before, and they generally have the same response. "We'd love to if someone would fund it."

I'm pretty sure they still hold the rights to the IP, so I guess all they would need is a publisher, or if they don't have the rights, funds from Southpeak. However, given that Southpeak seems to be straight-up not paying people (see: My Baby Boy/Girl series or whatever), I'd peg that chance as unlikely.

Hm, okay, perhaps I should try to think of something more interesting. Maybe... "How do you feel about the performance of Mushroom Men?" The game got some pretty good reviews, but I don't think it sold very well. I wonder how they feel about that.

Mushroom Men was one of the only Wii titles to get one of my 360 friends interested slightly in the Wii. He was very impressed with video's of it. I still mean to pick up a copy.

I would like to hear an unpacking of what they mean by 'companion piece' regarding FU2. Since Chrome Studio made the first FU I would be interested to hear if Red Fly has used any of the assets and/or engine from the first game for this one. Has there been any work with Chrome on FU2? How closely are they working with the studio doing the HD version?

Whose idea was it to add in the exclusive multiplayer mode for TFU II on Wii: LucasArts or Red Fly Studio?

I don't know if it would get an honest answer since many developers cop out and give a politician type answer, but does Red Fly have a preference to what system they like working with most?
