The two models of the DSi are set to take a price plunge in just a few weeks.

Nintendo has announced plans to drop the prices of the Nintendo DSi and Nintendo DSi XL systems on September 12. The DSi will fall from $169.99 to $149.99, and the DSi XL will fall from $189.99 to $169.99. The DS Lite will remain at an MSRP of $129.99.

This drop comes as Nintendo plans to unveil the pricing and availability of the upcoming Nintendo 3DS within the next month. No details have been revealed regarding the Nintendo 3DS as of yet, but after the system's launch, Nintendo will have DS systems at five different price points.

The Nintendo DSi XL will still come bundled with several DSiWare games such as Brain Age Express: Math and Flipnote Studio, as well as the Nintendo DSi Browser.

Wow, a whopping $20 price cut.  That'll really make me rethink my decision to wait for the 3DS instead.  -_-'

And this comes right after I bought a DS Lite. :/

I thought about an XL for a few moments, but just decided to hold out for the 3DS. Some speculate that the price drop is preparation for the announcement of the announcement (and so on) about getting the 3DS sometime soon.
This is where I would write something witty or funny if I had any ideas.

I think that this pretty much confirms the 3DS will be $190 or $200. That's higher than I was hoping for, but oh well.

Nintendo already said it would cost more than the DS, so this price drop means that the 3DS could potentially be less expensive than we thought.

My thought always was around $190 so this brings more credence to that price.  I'm hoping it's no more than $200 though.
