Nintendo's E3 page gives yet more F-Zero info
« on: April 25, 2003, 09:26:22 AM »
Nintendo have changed the page around a bit to include a few third-party games. When you click on the "F-zero" tab - or any tab on the "Pikmin" one - you'll see the F-zero button quickly change to "F-Zero GX" then go back to "F-zero" again.

Could "GX" be the official F-zero title?

it could be a typo. The X and C are pretty close together.

Yeah it probably was a mistake on Nintendo's part.

The C and X are close, but he said GX. That is clearly not a typo....

The closest thing to resemble GX is Gefore FX to me......but that is ludacris, since Nintendo is partnered with ATI.

Maybe it's a secret title???

I don't think it is as clear as you believe. One likely possibility is that they meant to type F-Zero GC but typed GX by mistake. It is very possible if one was typing fast.

I have the problem all the time- I chicken peck pretty fast when I type and often hit the key right next to the one I intended. So it's perfectly plausible that whoever typed in the title meant to type a "C" but accidently typed "X", which is to the immediate left of the C button on the keyboard.

Uhh...

The F-Zero title on the N64 was "F-Zero X"

So it makes sense that the GC version would be called "GX."  It would follow more in the series of the games, instead of simply paying name-service to the console.

eggytoast lol he asked what was the name of the 64dd version not the n64 version lol

i also believe its a typo with the X and C bordering eachother on the keyboard

also i've read in magazines and ign.com and quite possibly gamespot.com that
they have yet to come up with the final title for the game, so everyones still
referring to it as Fzero GC.... so I highly doubt it could be called Fzero GX, although it is a possibility...SLIGHT possibility that is

edit** i researched a bit and I only found the 64dd version of Fzero
being titled "F-Zero Expansion Kit"
I don't know if this is legit so if someone finds anything else post it up
.

F-Zero GX?
Hmmm.......

It's a hybrid of F-Zero X and F-Zero GC.
F-Zero Gamecube X sounds stupid.

I can't think of anything that stands for GX.

It doesn't have to stand for anything, and the only reason I don't think it's a typo is that there have been other errors on the e3 pages (bad links, wrong pictures, etc.) and they've gone back and fixed them within 24 hours.

I'm not saying it IS "GX," just that assuming it's a typo isn't the best idea -- everything they put up is proofread and checked, and they get tons of emails regarding changes on their website.  F-Zero has never followed the naming convention of adding the name of the console to the game title (there was no "super f-zero" nor "F-zero 64"), so using GX would both show that it's the "next game" without saying "on gamecube!" necessarily.

How the hell is it that every time Nintendo screws up something small we make a big deal out of it and we some how see how it is connected to everything...  Jezus guys get a verb already...

the 'gc' used by the majority of magazines when referring to f-zero is an abbreveation of gamecube, the fact that it is noted on other parts of the site that the game is for the gamecube would mean that there is no reason for nintendo to add that it is a gamecube game, as with other games which have siblings on the gameboy advance. so? it is unlikely nintendo would refer to a game of their own as e.g. f-zero gc unless there was a gameboy advance release of an f-zero game around a similar time. so? the gx may well then just be the title for the next game in the series. or maybe it's pointless speculating because it will all be revealed shortly anyway.
