You can get them fixed, eh?

DAMN YOU JAPANESE COMPANIES!

That's what happened when my PS2's laser was all crappy, so it didn't boot games half the time.. I sent it in and they fixed it for free, since it was their fault

Well, it looks like if you can get a GC fixed for a reasonable amount of money, I won't be able to pursue my dream for a year or two.

Any idea on how much it costs to get a gamecube refurbished?  If it's like $25 + shipping and not more than $70, I guess that'd actually be a pretty cheap way to get a Gamecube

I still wouldn't have much use of it until I finish Zelda 64 and have more time to goof off, but that wouldn't be too bad

So let me get this straight.  You'd spend money to get a Gamecube, and then turn it into a candy dish.

K.

Just to let you know, Xbox's make dandy doorstops, anchors, and paperweights, as well as effective bludgeons in a pinch.

PS2 can be used to light things on fire, last I heard.  Or to scratch up DVDs.  Think of the savings!  That's killing two birds with one stone right there.

But don't get your hopes up too high.  Being a Sony product, it will last all of a year or two before it breaks down.  Microsoft products break down every three months, and require you to ship it off to Microsoft so they can upgrade it, when really all they do is make you pay for shipping and a sticker or something.

INCORRECT

Also, MGS2 by itself made the PS2's $300 price tag worthwhile

Incorrect?  Is that the best you can come up with?

You're going to have to try harder than that.

umm just to let you know this is the Gamecube forums, not the "talk about MGS2" forums.
Anyway to stay on topic I think it would be wicked cool to have a gamecube candy dish.  Store some along side my regular gamecube, and have the perfect snack whle playing.

It’s obvious that this guy is a PS2 fanboy, although he is trying his hardest to mask this, his making fun of the other two systems and saying that the PS2 was worth the $300 dollar price tag for MGS2 was the tip off. So I don't see why everyone should be all that bothered. If anything I would mark it as a good sign for Cube owners if someone is bored enough with their own system purchase to try and stir trouble with others enjoying the GCN as a means of fun.

It is actually a nifty idea though, to hollow out a system for use as a candy dish, although far from economically reasonable. I am pretty sure Nintendo has done this idea before actually, although with the Gameboy (and no not a real Gameboy, just a plastic box with the look and buttons of the handheld) as I seem to recall getting one when I was a kid. Candy wasn’t too great inside though if I recall.

WAIT Strell!, the people that use the saying two birds with one stone are actually refurring to an XBOX and not a stone. Next time u list uses of an XBOX make sure to add-To kill pesky birds

You win Contradiction-of-the-Day award.  I'd say of the week, or push for even year, but that's really giving more credit than it's worth.

"Never play" and "its the best game ever."

Plus 70 is 95, but still, it'll be almost double that amount.  And I don't think it costs quite that much, but that's just a random guess.  I have no evidence contrarywise or whatever.

Hey, Nimble Fingers...

Go get yourself an Atari Jaguar, with the CD add-on. Awesome invention, you can store corn chips in the actual hollowed out Jaguar base, and since the CD add-on fits on the top, it'd make a killer dip container.

Rock on.

And what's this about PS2 scratching DVD's? Man, I tell ya, I must be ultra lucky. First generation (Well, first gen in Australia) unit right here, no problems. Ever. Apart from the disc tray getting a bit slow....

A WINNER IS ME!

Please. It's a good game. A great game. Certainly one of the best ever. So just shut up.

Also if you got your gamecube a year ago or less Nintendo will fix it for free. Even if it was more, they might help you out anyway, because they're so nice. =P that's great compared to M$'s 3-month policy on the XBox

Wait, wait, wait.  You want to get your Gamecube fixed, but your dream is to gut out a GCN to make a candy dish?  Talk about a serious conflict of interest.

No it isn't. It isn't even a game. It's a piss poor movie. I wouldn't even put it in the top 100 games of all time, MGS1 maybe, but definitely not that piece of garbage MGS2.

KPW, don't be silly.  If anyone threw an Xbox, it would end the world from the massive earthquake that would ensue.  You wouldn't just kill birds, you'd destroy all life as we know it.
