Just as The Speed Gamers successfully completed their Final Fantasy Marathon, The Returners have announced their own marathon of the popular RPG series. The Returners are a fundraising organization that collects money for various causes through videogame marathons that are streamed lived through the internet. Slated to last for 120 hours (5 days), the marathon aims to collect money for ChildÂ’s Play, an organization founded by the creators of   Penny Arcade, that donates toys, books, and games to children in hospitals nationwide.

Starting August 6 and ending on August 11, The Returners will attempt to play Final Fantasy I through XII (excluding XI) .  Each participant will be playing one of the Final Fantasy games in order of original release. The donation period will last until August 18.

A live video feed will be available on The Returners'  blogspot page.

Well ****. the speed gamers only managed to get partway through X in their 168 hours. It'll be interesting to see how much time these guys save by playing the original versions instead of remakes.
