Her Majesty Receives Golden Wii
« on: May 23, 2009, 10:53:52 PM »
No, not that kind of "Golden Wii"  ;D

Check it out: http://www.gamesindustry.biz/articles/big-family-games-thq-delivering-a-gold-plated-wii-to-the-queen-today--let-s-hope-she-s-in

Quote
The Queen and other members of the Royal Family will be able to use their new gold Wii to play 24 unique twists on classic family games including golf, tennis, ladder golf, lawn darts, horseshoes, bocce and more.

Her Royal Highness will be able to play through the game as a single player or get Princes Philip, Charles, Harry, and William, and even Camilla, involved when playing in multiplayer mode. HRH will even be able to create customisable characters for herself and the rest of the family.

I wonder what it looks like. I remember a few years ago 50 Cent has a custom made PSP that was gold and covered with real diamonds.

Too bad they've chosen a terrible pack-in.

Not a problem since the Queen already has a Wii (it was reported a couple of years ago to show how popular the Wii was becoming).

When I googled to find that pic, it was amazing to see the huge variety of things people have gold-plated...

I'm a bit disappointed that they didn't replace the buttons with some material that goes better with gold; white looks a bit cheezy.

Wow, that looks really... tacky. Gold should only be used to make jewelry, and maybe to coat the connectors of audio/video cables to help with the conductivity.

WII WANT BLACK

EASYCURE: I remember thinking(don't ask me why) this was a blond haired, blue eyed, chiseled athlete. Like he looked like Seigfried before he became Nightmare.

WII WANT BLACK

If Black had been available when I got mine I probably would have gotten a black one but at this point it would be weird being anything but white. Kinda like the name, we all thought Wii was a stupid name when they announced it but now I couldn't imagine it being called anything else.

I still don't like the white, it shows dirt. I would totally buy a pink Wii if one were released.

I never thought the name "Wii" was stupid, I instantly recognized its potential.

I was thinking a nice dark-reddish wood for the buttons/dpad/triggers.

Maybe a cover woven from silver and gold thread for the cabling?

It would be cool if the controller were custom made with rubies, emeralds, diamonds, etc. as the buttons.

Isn't it great that rich and famous people that could buy anything they wanted on a whim always get freebies like this while the rest of us that have to work our asses off to make ends meet don't?

Terrible pack-in game.  If I was receiving it I would have a hard time faking interest.  Though I think the Wii itself looks kind of cool.
