The highly anticipated WiiWare title gets a release date.
 http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/newsArt.cfm?artid=18422

The June 2009 issue of Nintendo Power contains an advertisement for Square Enix's upcoming WiiWare title Final Fantasy IV: The After Years.  What's special about this advertisement is that it reveals the release date for the title, which is June 1, 2009.

NWR will provide more details as they become available.

HELL YEAH !! I loved that game. I wonder if any moon or hell locations are in this game. I thought it was ubercool when I went to those locations in the game.

The underground realm is not Hell.  It's just underground.  Plenty of happy dwarves down there.

So, today Nintendo's WiiWare anniversary announcement mentions that FFIV: The After Years has nine episodes.  I really, really hope that doesn't mean we have to download and pay and wait for multiple sections of the game.

My mistake. It's been a while since i played it.

Oh man that is a joy kill. I wouldn't mind 3 packs of 3, but 9 individual is evil. Squarenix is greedy I'm guess 9 packs of $10. I would hope they just combine it to ONE huge pack for $20 and be done with it.

Sorry, but Squeenix needs money in order to make more Final Fantasy fan fiction.

I really doubt they will release nine downloads at $10 each. If they went that route, then they would probably charge $5 each. Maybe they would release the game at $10 with the first episode and offer the other 8 as DLC for $2 each? No need to clutter up the shop channel with nine entries.

Considering it started as a cell phone game, I don't see how they can get away with charging more than $10 for the entire package.

Well Crystal Defenders started as a iPhone game for 7.99 and it ended up on XBLA for 10.00 and 1/3rd of the game on WiiWare for 8.00.  From what I read the cellphone version of FF IV: The After Years, game episodes are distributed as monthly installments via a subscription plan. The first episode was free but you had to subscribe and pay for the subsequent episodes.

Ah, did not know that.  Well, that makes it more complicated.  Too bad they can't offer the first WiiWare episode for free.

Nonsense, of course they could.  But then that would make that first episode pretty much a demo, and we all know Nintendo's stance on downloadable demos so that nixes that.  Honestly, if they pull that same "9 separate installments for max money" thing on WiiWare they can kiss my purchase goodbye.  It's bad enough I have to deal with the Square Tax whenever I want to buy one of their retail games, so I'm not going to put up with it here.

It could be worse. They could break up the 9 and have 18 .
 18 x $5 = $90 to COMPLETE THE GAME .
