Retro barely counts in my opinion. Nintendo bought them before they ever released a game.

After some quick checking, I did find another one. Sony purchased Naughty Dog in 2002.

This was Eidos' execs' fantastic bailout plan.  Basically, Square got Eidos like Microsoft got Rare.

These guys deserve to give Hairy Palm High-Fives to each other.

I'm not sure this was a good move on S-E's part.

I mean, instead of investing in... say... games for market leading platforms, they are buying a company whose employees are probably thinking now's a good time to get out.  This reminds me of when Microsoft bought the High Heat Baseball license from 3DO's rotting corpse.  They didn't do anything with it, so they just blew a fad wad of cash for nothing.
