Izuna 2 to Feature Reversible Cover Art

All copies of the game will feature the out of work ninja on both sides of the cover art.

Atlus announced early this week that the sequel to Izuna: The Unemployed Ninja will feature reversible covert art. The backside of the cover art for Izuna 2: The Unemployed Ninja Returns will depict "a beautifully-rendered bust-up portrait" of Izuna. Consumers merely need to slip out the cover slip, turn it over, and re-insert it into their DS game cases to be greeted with the following visage of their favorite itinerant ninja.

Izuna 2: The Unemployed Ninja Returns will be available at American retailers on July 22.

June 17, 2008 - Atlus today announced that every copy of Izuna 2: The Unemployed Ninja Returns for Nintendo DS™ will include reverse box art, with the alternate side featuring a beautifully-rendered bust-up portrait of the lovely out-of-work ninja herself.

Izuna and her gang are back—and just in time for a wedding! Lured by the promise of free food (Why else would Izuna attend?), the festive event becomes a puzzling mystery when Izuna's sidekick Shino suddenly disappears, off in search for her long-lost sister. And making matters worse, the foreign gods have also arrived on Japanese soil, and they aren't very happy with the meddlesome, unemployed ninja. With disgruntled deities on the warpath, a sidekick to track down, and a missing sister out in the wild, it could all shape up to be one of Izuna's more exciting adventures. Sounds like a lot of work for a girl out of a job!

Demonstrate your support for gaming’s spunkiest, laziest, and cutest mercenary on July 22.

Cool touch. Being the new owner of a PSP and a PS3, I love how all of their games essentially have this. Being that the cases are see through, the inside of the cover art often has art on it as well that you can see through the box. It is a neat touch that really adds more character to the already colorful boxes.

One for day, one for night. Have your game box slip into something more "comfortable".

Anyway, I love this kind of extra for game covers. Replace the blurbs, fine print, and ESRB boxes with some pretty artwork for the game!

DS games have see-through covers in Europe (at the expense of being as thick as GBA cardboard boxes), some games have stuff on the inside of their cover (e.g. Lunar Knights).

It's an Atlus game. It's a collector's item by default already.

Boo-yah! Atlus pushing gaming in new exciting directions. The second most innovative gaming company behind Nintendo.

Congratulations Atlus on finding new ways to sell games and increase gaming's need for hawtness. That's innovation I can live with.

Ideas like this make me sleep happy at night, if you know what I mean. Oh wait, wrong thread. I guess you won't know then.

Interestingly enough, BOTH companies have a hard time making enough product for consumers.
