First Comes Love, Then Comes Marriage...

As some of you may already know, the past couple of weeks I was absent from both the forums and the site for my marriage and honeymoon. Now that I’m back I figured I would let everyone know that the marriage was a success and the honeymoon was a blast. No runaway bride, no chickening out at the last second, no major fubars, everything thankfully went smoother than I could have ever imagined.

For the honeymoon, my new wife and I went on a trip out of the country to sunny Cancun, Mexico. During my time there I made sure to squeeze in a bit of gaming and kept my eyes peeled for anything and everything gaming.

Due to the lengthy plane rides to and from Cancun, I brought along my DS and one of the two Zelda games I never finished, The Minish Cap. Now I know what your thinking, I didn’t stop playing the Minish Cap because there was anything wrong with it, at the time something more interesting had come along (Resident Evil 4) and it demanded my attention. My wife had already beaten the game somewhere in the ballpark of 3 times (she reaaaally loves Zelda games), putting me to total shame because I had gotten all of 1 or 2 hours into the game.

Fortunately, over the course of the honeymoon I was able to finish the game and perform a good number of the side quests.

Overall I would say that I was satisfied with it. It had copious amounts of fan service, some great new concepts and a number of returning concepts from other portable entries that I greatly enjoyed. On the flipside, though it featured a full-fledged adventure, something about it felt incomplete. It didn’t feel as complete as Link’s Awakening and was nowhere near A Link to the Past in terms of quality and depth. Kinstone fusing seemed somewhat tacked on to create a side questing system and at times the game seemed intentionally vague in an effort to artificially extend the length of the game.

Though I enjoyed the game overall I doubt I will bother completing my already beaten quest, much less play through the game a second time.

Aside from my Minish Cap exploits, the honeymoon gave me a chance to catch up on some much needed R&R. My wife and I enjoyed beach bumming, day tripping and bar hopping over the course of eight days and couldn't have had a better time doing so. During my trips out I always brought along the camera and managed to grab some snapshots of interesting gaming related stuff that I noticed.

The infamous LodgeNet was available in my room. Unfortunately, it wouldn't load up the games so I couldn't try it. I did consider "borrowing" the controller though ...

Anyone up for a game of Mario Kart Wii? What's that, just a fluorescent light you say? Oh, nevermind then.

Diddy Kong chillin' on Isla Mujeres.

 Donkey Kong, too!?

Game Over? Good thing I have another guy.

James, Neal this one is for you guys. $50 USD for the new Pokemon Mystery Dungeon games there.

Isla Mujeres?  Too bad it wasn't Isla Mujeres Hermosas, eh?

Congratulations, Mr. Jack.  Sorry you missed the funhouse bachelor party.

While I was in Disney a few weeks ago I also found a stupid display of Pokemon Mystery Dungeon in Epcot Japan.
That game already ruined my renewed love for Pokemon (I sitill can't bring myself to finish Leaf Green which I was in the middle of before PMD), it had no right trying to soil my vacation.

Apparently, if you take the LodgeNet controller, you only get charged $30... or so that's what I read in another article...
Just some random guy on the internet who has a different opinion of games than you.

Congratulations, Mr. Jack.  Sorry you missed the funhouse bachelor party.

EasyCure, Shift Key and I got drunk in your honor.  RAB would have joined, but he looks like he's fourteen, so I'm pretty sure he's underage.
Why must all things be so bright? Why can things not appear only in hues of brown! I am so serious about this! Dull colors are the future! The next generation! I will never accept a world with such bright colors! It is far too childish! I will rage against your cheery palette with my last breath!

Dang, a wife who enjoys gaming? I envy you, sir.

I liked Minish Cap a lot, but you're right, it's kind of a vague Zelda game. The shrink/grow thing was kind of cool, but I think it resulted in more wasted time than anything else in that game.
This would be my PSN Trophy Card, but I guess I can't post HTML in my Signature. I'm the pixel spaceship, and I have nine Gold trophies.

My girlfriend hates gaming because I love it more than her.

I too, am envious.
