V.I.P. Casino: Blackjack released yesterday on the WiiWare service, bringing a little piece of Vegas to US Wii owners' homes. The game makes multiple control schemes available for use, including a Wii Remote point-and-click option. It features four-player multiplayer and 20 challenges for players to unlock.

Built on High Voltage Software's proprietary Quantum 3 Engine, the game is fully rendered in real-time 3D. The engine is available for licensing in, among other packages, a WiiWare only option, making this game the first released use of High Voltage's engine in that capacity.

V.I.P. Casino: Blackjack is available now for download on the WiiWare service for 700 Wii Points and is rated E for Everyone by the ESRB.

V.I.P. CASINO: BLACKJACK TO HIT THE Wii

High Voltage Software announces new WiiWare title

Hoffman Estates, IL – May 12, 2008 - High Voltage Software, Inc., one of the world's largest independent developers, announced that V.I.P. Casino Blackjack â„¢, a revolutionary new 3D card game, was released today as a launch title for Nintendo's WiiWareâ„¢ downloadable service.

V.I.P. Casino Blackjack offers the richest and most realistic blackjack experience available today. Unlike the static 2D interfaces found in other titles, V.I.P. Casino Blackjack breaks new ground with fully realized characters, cards, and casinos rendered in real-time 3D on High Voltage Software's proprietary Quantum 3 Game Engine technology. The game offers four-player multiplayer as well as 20 challenges for players to unlock on their own.

"We were aiming for the most realistic blackjack experience possible," said Kerry J. Ganofsky, CEO and founder of High Voltage Software. "This is a game that will be instantly familiar to anyone who's ever set foot in the top casinos in Las Vegas, but we also expect it to draw new fans who have never tried the card game."

The game takes full advantage of the Wiiâ„¢ hardware, with multiple control schemes, including a point-and-click option that makes it easy for anyone to jump in and play. No other game offers such an immersive casino experience.

All that 3d seems wasted if you consider the game is still blackjack.

Give me the engine and I'll release a texas hold'em game!

Ask the World of Goo guys. They made a TWO-MAN Company and started WiiWare development on World of Goo, stealing internet from coffee shops, working on laptops... and I guess they'll eventually pay their own $2,500 ESRB ratings fee.

I also remember hearing something from... the people at Medaverse? I think they said that with all the wiiware they've done so far, they've spent less than $15,000 out of pocket? (I assume that doesn't include any labor)

Anyone who really wants a blackjack game on the Wii should just grab Vegas Stakes on the VC. It's 100 more points, but it also includes several other casino games and, most importantly, is roughly one quarter the file size, and if you're into Wii Ware you're going to need all the free blocks you can get.
