The E-L-M-O thing is... strange.  He supposedly spells out his name... but when he moves, he looks absolutly nothing like the letters that he's trying to make (the closest he comes is the "M"...)

I like seeing commercials for the VideoNow Color Personal Video Player.  It makes this big deal about watching movies whenever you want to and watching them "my way" or some crap like that only to have this quiet voice say "only plays Videonow discs" at the end.  Who buys sh!t like this?  My parents would NEVER be so stupid as to buy a non-standard kid friendly piece of electronics.

But then when we were young my brothers and I didn't ask for sh!tty toys.  ELMO?  F*ck that.  When we were kids we hated Elmo because he was some relatively new character trying to steal airtime from vets like Bert and Grover.

Apples and oranges.  VideoNow targets kids.  Kids are often pretty f*cking dumb and will get their parents to buy all sorts of crap.  UMD movies target adults.  Adults are not quite so stupid.  There's a difference between buying some cheap POS video player thingy to shut your kid up and buying proprietary movies for yourself.
