UGO Fails at marketing...
« on: March 02, 2006, 05:23:20 AM »

Seriously, what are the odds that someone from here is going to be clicking on this particular banner?

Come on everyone, let's go check out a preview of the NEW Holly Hobby for today's girl!  She's eXXXtreme!  I hear she's dating the new Bomberman.

ROFL!

And yes, I don't think we have even ONE female poster on this forum.

Rat: While I'm sure it's possible that there is a female or two browsing these forums, the odds of any one of these 'females' being at all interested in the "New" Holly Hobbie has got to be less than .01%.  The fact is, the entire point of commerical marketing and advertising is to create ads and show them to people who would be interested in your product.  To do anything else defeats the purpose of advertising.*

*Now I know, in theory, that just simply getting people to talk about your product is a good thing, however, I don't think that applies to one minor message board forum that's making fun of their extreme Holly.

I feel dirty.

I had a bit before work today, so I thought I'd check out the new Holly Hobbie's website and see if there was anything useful there to make a banner out of.

But I couldn't get the ad to re-load.

So I actually had to frickin' Google "Holly Hobbie".  Seriously, who woulda thunk it?

Anywhoo, as it turns out, this new eXXXtreme Holly is the Great-Granddaughter of the original Holly Hobbie.  Man, I didn't know she was that old.

So I'm left wondering... Is the new Bomberman the Great Grandson of the original Bomberman?

*edit*
f'n-a.

As soon as this page reloaded after my message, what ad do I see?  Come on... guess...

Hey I like her, she looks like my ex, the both have the same stupid air headed i don't know what the hell you're talking about kind of smile. except holly is missing a couple of things that really attracted me to my ex. actually the only two good things about her.

Okay, the original Holly Hobbie was introduced in 1967.  Let's say she was 18 then.  And she had a kid the next year (1968).  A mere fourteen/fifteen years later (in 1982-ish), that kid had a kid (The original Holly's Grandson\daughter).  Another fourteen/fifteen years later (in 1996-ish), that kid had a kid (The Original's Great Granddaughter, or the New Holly) and now the new Holly Hobbie is about 10 years old.

Basically, what I'm saying is American Greetings is all about pedophilia...

I was bored and I have way too much free time on my hands, so I sent AG an e-mail.

Dear American Greetings:

I have a question about your "New" Holly Hobbie and her relationship with the original Holly Hobbie.

On the website dedicated to the original Holly Hobbie, it mentions that the "new" Holly Hobbie is the "Great Granddaughter" of the original.  It also mentions that the original was first introduced in 1967.

Now, from what I've seen of the original's artwork and such, she looks fairly young - implying that in 1967 she had no chldern.

Now, according to the "new" Holly Hobbie's website, she's 10 years old, which has her being born back in 1996.

1996 minus 1967 leave 29 years in which the original Holly Hobbie had a kid who had a kid who had a kid... which implies that a very young looking original Holly Hobbie had a son/daughter who had a child when he/she was around 14-15-ish years old.  And *that* son/daughter had a son/daughter when they were around 14/15-ish years old as well (This is assuming you average the years, idealy, you could say one was older - 20-ish or so - but that means the other would have to be younger - 10-ish or so).

So, basically, what this means is that by making the "new" Holly Hobbie the great-granddaughter of the original, y'all are endorsing pedophilia, unprotected teenage sex and teenage pregnancy.

Overall, I guess that does pretty well fit in with "today's girl".

Thanks.  -UB.

Well, if the original Holly Hobbie's attire is any indication, she was a pioneer child in the American West.

Yeah, or Amish.

But as much as I hate to say it, I approve of the new Holly Hobbie.

Frankly, anything young girls can look up to as a role model which isn't a wretched, skanky media whore is a-ok in my book.
