Civilization Revolution.

Holy crap! How did this not get noticed today? Sid Meier is coming back to Nintendo and bringing Civ with him. Now admittedly, it's not just Nintendo but seems to be for all consoles. Also, it seems like this is going to be a different Civ experience but still. This is great news. I've been thinking for awhile now that Civilization would be a great game to bring back to consoles and it appears Sid and the team at Firaxis have realized that also.

Here's the press release. Click to read! The most interesting comment part about the release is Sid's comment that: "Civilization Revolution is the game I've always wanted to make!" Now I'm really wondering what this game is going to be like if he's been wanting to make a game like this for awhile. In fact, they even mention this quote in the trailer.

And here is the trailer from the official site. Sadly, it takes longer to load than it does to click on this sentence and see the greatness of Civ and Sid.

I wonder if more will be shown for E3 or if we'll have to wait around for more news. But at least 2008 is starting to have some great titles to look forward to.

Read it and weep it: "2K Games has announced Sid Meier's Civilization Revolution, to be available for the DS, PSP, Playstation 3, and Xbox 360 next year.  The Wii is the only next-gen console to be shunned from the latest multi-platform strategy title."

Which begs the question, why the PSP and not the Wii? LMAO! I would surely wish this game on Wii because I used to play the first Civilization quite addictively.

What? That is so strange. Why is Wii off the list? Is it because of the online element? Not to mention with Revolution in the title, it seemed like this was built more for the Wii. That is so sad. I guess this should be moved to handhelds now. I'm not to sure how well a handheld version will do.

What the hell? How in the world does that decision even make an ounce of sense?

Eh, they call it "action-oriented" and "streamlined". You know what that means. This'll be about as deep as ActRaiser.

Well I was going to say because Sega makes some of the worst business decisions imaginable but 2K hasn't been owned by Sega for a while. ::shrugs:: So I have no clue why Wii is left out of the mix.

I still think that we should wait for E3 just to be certain, I'm skeptical on that TGDaily report because the official press release from Take2 didn't mention any consoles per se, so there's still some hope.

So pretty much this won't be a true Civilization game.  It will bbe something else that has the name.  After Civ 2 the serious just keeps moving itself farther from it solid roots.  I lost interest.

ActRaiser's sim mode was appropriate as an intermission between battle stages but it's got nothing on Civ.

I agree but I think it was at the appropriate level of complicatedness.  I wouldn't want it to be more in-depth.  Sort of like I don't want to have Battle Stages in Civilization.

Ok, so the official news is that there is a Wii version coming out...in fall 2008.
There will be no PSP version. ::woohoo::
At least someone has the balls to bring an rts onto the Wii system, it's about damn time, even though we still have to wait over a year for it.

Balls? You would think RTS's might be a given considering the nature of he the Wii's controller.

That's why I said it, I know the Wii is perfect for RTSs yet nobody is bringing them to us, but Sid had the guts to try it and no one else.
