Well, the gameplay of DR CAN be pulled on the Wii.

DR is basically a beef up hack and slashed, except it has a decent story to follow, lots of missions and variety.

The ONLY thing that sets the game back is the graphics (and maybe the controls, for the reasons SB mentioned earlier). But even then, the core of the gameplay can be pulled on the Wii.

I just want to point out that the Spartan images you posted are for the Xbox and PS2 versions of the game, not the GameCube version. I found that funny.

Your right, how silly of me.  That blows everything out of proportion.  To think that DR on the wii was a good idea well you've proved me wrong!!!!! *sarcasm*

I remember at one point, I took a mannequin torso and cleared out near 40 zombies to save a girl who was being attacked by them. Obviously, this required some pretty intense button mashing.

I just can't see that happening on the Wii, but the tactile experience of slicing through a horde of zombies with the Wiimote-katana would be...stirring.

Just one reason I'm curious to try the Scarface chainsaw controls.

The easiest way around this is to zoom in the camera angle to show less on screen at once, which would still make it appear chaotic.  Or, zoom out further so the zombies can lack graphical detail.

I mean, lets be serious-the A.I. in DR isn't good...and they're zombies so the AI shoudln't be good anyway!

The dumb AI on the Zombies is forgiven, but the AI on the survivors is REALLY bad.

They don't follow you religiously, plus can't defend themselves.

I told SB while playing the game last summer that they should use the AI they used on Ashley in RE 4 for the survivor since Ashley NEVER leaves Leon's side.

If they do make a sequel to DR, they should work on that. They should make it so that you can give the survivors a weapon and defend themselves if the place is too crowded with zombies or they lose Frank.

I think Dead Rising is very possibly on the Wii without doing to these drastic extremes.

I don't like the idea of having my Miis turn up as Zombies and me killing them in horrible ways.  I just doesn't seem right...and it also doesn't fit the graphical style of the original Dead Rising.

I do think that a cartoon action game needs to be created using Miis as a centerpiece to the game.  A game centered around lighthearted action could be a blast with Miis.

LOL. I can only imagine what it would look like if some one loaded up on Hitler Miis just so they can have an entire mall of Hitler zombies to kill.

But Here is what I will say, about Dead Rising on Wii.

5 Reasons why Dead Rising Should Be on the Wii.

1)  Extremely accurate pointing and Aiming will make shooting Zombies easier, more dynamic, and fun.

2)  Special Combat moves that require simple motions.  Nobody wants to have to swing for every attack.  Though Zelda seemed to manage it ok...Dead Rising would be just too much.  However, Why not have special attacks that can be done with items be motion based.  It would add a extra special glee to the killing.  And won't be used as often because it deteriorates the weapon faster.

3) Completely natural camera control.  With the Wii Pointer I have noticed camera issues are almost never an issue.  It is so simple and effortless to move the camera into a position I need I never feel like I am fighting the controls.  Which is important if I have over 100 Zombies after me at a time.

4) Online for free.  Dead Rising is just screaming for an online mode, and hey...the Wiis online service is free.  So since this is just a port, why not add cool additional features, like...special online missions.  That can be played CO-OP or competitively.

5) Special Nintendo exclusive content.  Hey partner with Nintendo and add some interesting costumes to the game.

      1) Samus Helmet:  Allows you to get statistical data on enemies you face.
      2) Luigi Hat: Allows you to jump higher
      3) Master Sword:  Rare Item.  Shoots blasts when you have perfect health.  Otherwise a nifty sword that won't break.
      4) Olimar's Helmet:  Allows you to take control of a small army of Zombies to do your bidding...within a range limit.

I am sure more could be thought up.

heres the deal with the graphics, the biggest problem with doing ports on wii is that it apparently lacks shaders like the new systems(and xbox), however here are a few statements to think about.

Wii is more powerful than GAMECUBE

Xbox had some gorgeous games thanks to two things shaders, and textures

the truth is gamecube could actually process twice as many textures as xbox, but gamecube had less memory than xbox, also due to limited disk space less textures could be stored on one disk

Wii has more memory than gamecube and bigger disks

http://www.wiisworld.com/wii-specs.html

here are some unofficial specs, but they seem about right

having lower graphics usually doesnt stem from having too little processing power(the truth is systems usually have more processing power than it can output), but a lack of ram

Wii games should have
Crazy detailed textures,
with bigger disks, and more memory they should look great

low end shading,
because the shading is not so great, it would be possible to use its crazy texture power to fake better shading

and they should actually balance out on polygons because while the processing power isnt as much, its always at a lower resolution...which leads to jaggies though, however that can be fixed with anti-aliasing, unfortuanatley thats processor intensive, but smart use of polygons can balance it out.

But the reality of it is.....it ain't happening.

Is this the Sven post you were talking about?

The answer is Dead Rising and Lost Planet are not slated to appear on Wii or PS3 as far as current plans go. The reasons for this are quite convoluted and I'm bound by NDAs on these matters so I can't divulge why this is the situation.

Coming from the same Capcom that said RE4 will be a Gamecube exclusive along with the other 4 games they promised on the Gamecube.

That's not the one.  But that makes it sound like MS has paid for the exclusiveness of DR which unfortunately is always a possibility.  Then again, when have Capcom ever gave an exclusive agreement for the life of the console to anyone?  It could be a timed exclusive...which would make it technically true that DR is not slated to appear on any other console.  Because 1)they can't say even if it is, and 2) perhaps it wasn't scheduled for the Wii at the time.

I still hear things from people who work in the industry and like to report them here.  I'm not bound by any NDAs when it comes to rumors on other developers(though I have broke a few about EA).  Doesn't mean DR to Wii will definitely happen, but it's worth noting.

This just proves once again that it isn't HD or Textures or Polygon counts that bring about great looking games.

It is still firmly the art direction the artists take and how they use their resources.  Some great examples of that are:

Super Paper Mario
Yoshi's Island
Metroid Prime 1&2
Pikmin 2
Wind Waker
Viewtiful Joe

And countless others.

While there are games that graphically are impressive, but they aren't beautiful games.

If one were to read between the lines though, all it really says is that Dead Rising and Lost Planet are XBox 360 exclusive titles and will not be ported to either the Wii or the PS3, however it in no way says anything to indicate that sequels to either game won't see a release on the Wii (or PS3). I'm not worried. The one way for DR Wii to truly work would be if it were built from the ground-up for the console anyways.

Thats fine because to Microsoft getting a DX10 game is better then just being 360 Exclusive.  Especially if they can interoperate like they have been saying.
