Please do not use Fedex.
« on: March 21, 2007, 12:20:59 PM »
Hello everyone,

Going through the corporate incompetents that is Fedex has yielded me nothing.  I am here now to beseech everyone to avoid Fedex whenever is possible.  My Wife was suppose to get a phone from Verizon yesterday.  We weren't home no biggy.  The door tag said I could pick it up at their "local" office after 7 which happened to be in Nashville.  I was working late yesterday so it be no problem for me to swing by there on the way home.  So I have my tracking number, my door tag number, and valid ID.  They wouldn't allow me to pick up the package for my wife because it wasn't exactly her.  Strike 1.  Ok, so I couldn't pick it up.  What made that a strike was because I called them earlier when we found out that the packaged was missed to verify that I could indeed pick it up and they said I could.

Alright.  I called and told my wife the bad news and then drove the 40 minutes home.  The door tag said that you could do an indirect signature and just sign and they'll leave the package par your instruction.  Ok.  So my wife signs it and gives clear instruction what to do with it.  She came home and there was no package but a door tag that said you could do an indirect signature.  Strike 2.

So as of know she is picking up a package from the in town and more competent, well here at least, UPS.  Then she's driving the 40 minutes to get the package from FedEx; I couldn't go with her I have to do laundry for an interview tomorrow.  Being helpful I called up Fedex and asked if they knew if the package was going to be back by the time she gets their, 7:10.  Of course they only knew that the driver was suppose to be back at 7.  Alright understandable.  I went on to ask about pickup policy, why the instructions were not followed, and their word not kept.   The Customer Service rep turns around and tells me its per package and then she had the gall to tell me that she didn't know how it was on my package.  Strike 3.  I don't like being lied to.  I know they have the information.  She had the packaged looked up and it would be their if it required and in person signature.

Then 40 minutes back for her.  I doubt they'll let her even pick it up because it's under her maiden name.

That's the pits. Point taken though. You should file a complaint to the Better Business Bureau or something. Someone's head should roll for this...

I ordered something online to be shipped to my dorm room, and the company sent it via FedEx.  I never got the package, even though the online tracking said it was delivered.  Upon talking to someone at my school in the mail room, FedEx and UPS will just leave a package in front of a dormitory building if it doesn't need to be signed for, letting anyone who walks by it (ie - hundreds of people per day) just pick it up and take it.  Apparently, this has happened before.

After three weeks, I got the money back from the website, who I assume will be reimbursed by FedEx for a completely asinine procedure.

Why don't you have the package delivered to a place where you will be during the day (i.e. your work)?  You should have called after strike 1 and have them redeliver the next day to your work or your neighbor's or something like that.  I do it all the time.
Why must all things be so bright? Why can things not appear only in hues of brown! I am so serious about this! Dull colors are the future! The next generation! I will never accept a world with such bright colors! It is far too childish! I will rage against your cheery palette with my last breath!

I never have a problem with either UPS or FedEx.  But then again most everything I order comes through UPS.  FedEx only when I order something from LL Bean, even then I don't pay for shipping.

In fact, aside from video games, I don't pay shipping for 90% of stuff I buy.  I always buy enough to get free shipping. =D

So, with that in mind, I really don't have much room to complain if something get delayed a day or so because I am getting, more or less, so to speak, what I pay for.  Which is nothing really.  But UPS is very good, 2-3 days and I usually get it more likely in 1 -2 days.

Also, if yo get to know your normal delivery person, they just might get things to you earlier instead of letting them sit at the warehouse until the delivery date.

Well I've had problems with both UPS and Fedex.  Though moreso with Fedex.  When I lived in Cookeville me and UPS had a row because the delivery truck would just past the apartment and say they attempted to deliver it.  I know this to be fact because I was waiting in my wifes apartment all day for a package two days in a row after the first attempt and the attempts just kept rising online.  Me and the Triple B had words with them and that got resolved.  Hadn't had any trouble since.  Also it would need to be delivered to my wife's work because she has to sign for it.  The only problem is with her job she's at the office for maybe 2 hours of the day.  It was just a lot of poor handling on their part.

My newest story of Customer Service distraught was with Best Buy Online lately.  I had a DVD that was backordered in an order I made with them.  So it shipped later then the rest.  I knew this.  I received everything else a couple weeks back and just yesterday I "received" my backorderred DVD.  I was excited and my wife openned it and instead of Galaxy Angel: Complet Series their was a copy of Wallstreet.  The invoice said Galaxy Angel was what was shipped in the package itself.  I call them up and with an operator who transfers me to the right department.  Great.

That department picks up and I start to tell them my problem and they just keep saying that they could not hear me and that I should call back.  I'm fairly sure that was a recording on retrospective.  I call back and ask the initial operator if she could hear me Ok.  She says yes and ask why I asked.  I mention that the other branch was having a hard time hearing me.  She then goes, "It was Online Orders wasn't it."  I say yes.  She then goes on to explain that they have been having problems with them pulling this kind of stuff.  She was going to notify their supervisor and if it happens next time to tell them that I know that they can hear me and remind them that all the conversations are recorded.  Luckily for me that didn't happen the second time and they are reshipping me the correct DVD.  Which is backorderred.
