PSP - Jeanne D'Arc
« on: September 15, 2007, 02:48:11 AM »

Alright, I recently picked up a PSP (was going to get into homebrew, but my 3.51 FW stopped that pretty quickly), and am in the process of getting some games for it, to tide me over til I get my hands on that fancy battery...

Jeanne D'Arc is basically described as a very good reason to own a PSP right now, basically being the best game on the system at the moment.  I am seriously thinking about picking it up, but...

Well, I tried for a Very Long Time to get into Final Fantasy Tactics: Advance.  I'm talking 20 hours or so of me trying very hard to like it.  I never did.  I took this as a sign that SRPG's aren't for me.  I did, however, enjoy watching my friend play Disgaea.  He was good at it and loved the first FFT, and I seemed to get more enjoyment out of watching him play Disgaea than I ever did playing FFT:A...

What my post is boiling down to is...is Jeanne D'Arc the SRPG for people who don't seem to like SRPG's?  Is it so good that I will play it regardless of my previous experiences with the genre? Or should I stick to Tales of the World and Katamari for now?

It's very Fire Emblem-esque.  Much more comparable to the FE series than anything else.

It's also extremely awesome.

I picked this up with the daxter bundle PSP, and I like the game to me its a slightly deeper fire emblem since you can do much more customization and the story is told through anime cutscenes and static dialog(like fire emblem). The battles are not done in that fire emblem/advanced wars just on the battle grid. The only thing I hate about this game is that it sometimes has crappy camera angles with the camera system barely helping you out having a better view in battle. and that the grid is more isometric more than anything, but other than that its a steal at 29.99 .
