Dead or Alive Dimensions Dead in Australia
« on: June 10, 2011, 05:10:26 AM »

Australia joins the banning bandwagon for this increasingly-doomed title.

http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/news/26732

Dead or Alive Dimensions, the latest of several big-name fighting games to reach the 3DS, has been declassified in Australia and all copies pulled from shelves.
The decision follows the banning of the game in several European regions, after it was decided that containing several fighters of questionable age inherently constituted the game as child pornography.

The game may not be permanently gone, however, as there are hints that the title may be given a more age-appropriate MA15+ rating and re-released at some point in the future.

Until today, the game was rated PG - parental guidance recommended.

I don't get it.  This game has had iterations before on X-Box, especially the volleyball spin off which existed purely for the leering of well endowed girls in bikinis.  Why does the 3DS version get the can while the X-Box versions are fine?

I saw copies of this in the stores today.

Maybe I should have picked one up.

It seems that in the past few year Australia has become more strict on games thanks to the effort of one of their Attorney Generals Micheal Atkinson efforts. (At least that who they blame)
Stupidity is lost on my. Then again I'm almost always lost.

Maybe this will get back on the store shelves unmolested when the MA 18+ movement passes successfully.

Thanks ShyGuy.

Yeah i just emailed the classification board about this, they could take up to 20 days to get back to me. It really is a joke.

That's the thing, he's gone. Anyway I'm about to head out to stores for a quick scour of remaining copies.
