These new games, could one be Punch Out
« on: August 10, 2003, 10:23:00 AM »
Every body knows now that nintendo is planning on realeasing some new games soon, will one be a punch out remake.  I think nintendo could make a good addition to the series.  I started a thread last winter that talked about a good story mode, and a multi player mode.  The one i suggested was to have little mac give one last title shot to a competitor and have his 3 sons of which have different abilitys and you can control one of them.  And it would be cool if every time you win a belt you can unlock a character for multiplayer play.  Do you guys think that the players should be able to move there feet?  And when you with every fight you win money which you can buy new shorts or gloves, or maybe even like hats or pads and stuff.  What do you guys think.

i remember that and i love the idea. Nintendo needs some new franchises but also need to revive the dead ones like Duck Hunt, Kid Icarus, Punch-Out, Mach Rider.. there are tons they could capitalize on

the thing about punch out!! that is so good is that it never feels lifelike and is more fun to play
it is not a button masher by any means and it is very rewarding when you finally nail down an opponants movements to get a perfect match
but the way it is set up, i could see a great single player mode with good story and characters to battle, but how would multi work?
i mean if you look at the way it is set up (you are smaller on screen, you opponant is larger and at the top) you could only do it with lan play....
i call the big one bitey.

Punchout is great, but when did this become the huge avatar thread?
NWR has permission to use any tentative mockup/artwork I post

frst to answer rpg lovers question, a split screen.  And i gave this game some mroe thought.  There could be like a part of the menu where you go and like listen to a radio brodcast of a boxing show and see what fighters are making news and stuff.  Also if you buy like head gear and pads your popularity rating goes down and stuff im not really sure how that would work.  And then they should have a create a boxer.  After you beat the game you can make a boxer and then put him/her into story mode and a lot of different features could be customizable, including if your guy is a good all around boxer and fast guy or like a  kick boxer and stuff.  Also i think one of the 3 original characters you could pick from should be a chick .  Any other features you think they should add?

I could see an American developer making this game. Is boxing even popular in Japan? The team who makes 1080 might be cooking this up... wasn't 1080 supposed to be out as a launch title?
