Any MK games for DS?
« on: December 23, 2006, 04:16:39 AM »
I find it strage that Midway has put Mortal KOmbat on just about every friggin game system/console.handheld, out there yet I haven't heard anything about MK for DS.

I know they don't like Nintendo much int he recent years but they seam to get a few games out once in a while and if they are in fact making games for DS shouldn't MK be on there also? The GBA had two I think.

I haven't heard anythign at all about this so if there is anyone who has news relating toa  Mortal Kombat game on the Nintendo DS could you please point me to it?

I stopped checking thier 'official' site for gaming news because it lies alot and is hard to figure out.

Haha, I was thinking the same thing...

As for the question, the DS should be strong enough to handle the 3D engine, but apparently they want as much space as possible in order to fit all the multicolor ninjas, robots, demons and ugly as hell women.

Maybe they'll port Mortal Kombat Trilogy or something to the system.

Midway talks Wii, DS, and Mortal Kombat

The same is true of Mortal Kombat. I’m not going to be a big fan of putting it on Nintendo DS. It would be hard for me to believe that’s a good idea. It might even be able to make some money, but it’s not a great use of our time.
Why must all things be so bright? Why can things not appear only in hues of brown! I am so serious about this! Dull colors are the future! The next generation! I will never accept a world with such bright colors! It is far too childish! I will rage against your cheery palette with my last breath!

Despite a Wii version of Mortal Kombat: Armageddon announced for spring of 2007, Bayless remains generally hesistant about bringing Mortal Kombat to a platform known to draw a young audience, adding, “Is there something else we might do with Mortal Kombat that could be appropriate for that audience? Maybe. We’re actually kicking some ideas around.” Does this mean Mortal Kombat for Kids? Bayless laughs. “We can’t tell you what they are, but they’re pretty cool

I dunno about THAT audience, but how about making a fighting game that doesn't insult my intelligence for a change.  There they go once again thinking about the wrong end of the game design.  Then again, they did make Ant Bully and Happy Feet...

Thank God.

Also, just buy a PSP, there's four thrilling MK games on that. Four!

Sorry rat, you lost all credibility when you said you liked MK Advance. That is, without a doubt, not only the worst MK game I've ever played, but also the worst GBA game I've ever played.

   * Midway is currently working on a Mortal Kombat title for the Nintendo DS.

We didn't find out too much about the DS title that's in development. All that Shaun would hint at was that while it wasn't a direct port of a previous title, it wouldn't be a brand-new game either.

Probably a port of Mortal Kombat Advance with a map screen.
