Topic: Wii Demo Kiosks Not GameStop-Exclusive

Nintendo's Wii will get maximum exposure.

Last week we ran a rumor about Wii demo kiosks possibly being exclusive at GameStop/EB locations at the console's launch in November. Thankfully, Nintendo of America debunked this rumor earlier today, saying:    

"Playable Wii setups will be available at a variety of retail outlets. We expect that   anyone who wants to try Wii will be able to through multiple different methods. In   addition to retail outlets, Wii will be playable at a number of mall tours throughout   the country, the nationwide Nintendo Fusion Tour and other grass-roots consumer   events."    

So there you have it - the Wii won't be confined to the usual gamer audience. Hooray!

Between now and launch, I am more likely to be in any of Best Buy, Future Shop, Superstore, Toys R Us, Wal-Mart, or Zellers than EB Games.  Let's see some kiosks there.

I already said "Yay!" about this debunking in the Wii thread about the rumor.  If I may throw this back, what about the people who jumped to Nintendo's defense?  We were arguing over what turned out to be false information, so there aren't any I-told-you-sos to be had here.  Geez.

What I am wondering is WHY didn't Nintendo debunk this rumor sooner. I mean, isn't there anyone at Nintendo that reads the news and tells them what is going on?

Also, why did Gamestop let this rumor run wild?

They probably liked the press. If someone was saying that decoyman was the only one who had the answer to life's riddle, I'd probably soak it in for awhile.

And then sit back quietly when the REAL person with the answer to life's riddle showed up and said, "Don't worry, you can all know the answer to life's riddle. But first... Angry mobs may now begin forming off to the left for decoyman."

Lucky for Gamestop that this isn't the answer to life's riddle that they were hiding.
