Toys R Us to give away 25,000 Wii's

Deal or No Deal

Keep a look out in the mail or newspaper for this!

Quote

Weekly circulars from Oct. 1 to Oct. 28 carry two cut-out game pieces -- shaped like the suitcases used on the program -- that shoppers bring to stores. There, they can turn in either the "Deal" game piece, which awards 10% off one item, or the "No Deal" piece that provides entry into the game. Shoppers opting for "No Deal" have their suitcase scanned to see if they've won a prize or a 5% discount on one item. They can play each week after receiving new game pieces.

The promotion dangles a grand-prize $1 million and a trip to Los Angeles to attend the show. Nintendo Wii game consoles will be awarded to 25,000 entrants.

Ah ha ha ha, Canadians everywhere will FIXXX your grammar!

Now um...I'm guessing this is U.S. only?  Too bad, it sounds like a cool contest.  Except for the part about winning an appearance on the show AFTER you win a million bucks...I'd be like, "yeah, I'm going to keep betting Howie, I just got a million anyway."
That's my opinion, not yours.

Deal. 10% off Wii would be, like, $25. That's 25 times the cost of your average lottery ticket.

Also, I hate these kind of contests. Give me one game piece that gives me the grand prize if I win and 10% off any item if I don't, please.

edit: oh, nevermind, you get 5% if you select no deal.

Yeah, no comment to the above statements.  >_<

Anyway, I like Deal Or No Deal, if only for the women.  :P  Lisa Gleave (case #3) was a Tecmo girl at E3, and I got my picture taken with her.

They have commercials for this Toys R Us thing on there, but they didn't mention the Wii (or other prizes) on the commercial.  That piques my interest, well, only slightly.  Much less so if it's not in Canada.  (Unless I missed it I didn't hear about the Toys R Us Mew giveaway at the end of September up here in Canada, so maybe they won't have this one either.)

To play, bring the game piece to a participating Toys"R"Us store in the United States between 10/01/06 - 10/28/06

So ya gotta use it by the Oct 28th.

CouchMonkey, ya don't have to go on the show, you just get tickets to watch it.

Here's the other prizes
2nd Prize (25,000): Nintendo Wii $249.99 each. Odds of winning: 1:5,743.
3rd Prize (25,000): Schwinn Bike. ARV $199.99 each. Odds of winning: 1:5,743.
4th Prize (25,000): Nintendo DS Lites. ARV: $129.99 each. Odds of winning: 1: 5,743.
5th Prize (25,000): Sony MP3 Player, ARV: $99.99 each. Odds of winning 1:5,743.
6th Prize (25,000): LeapFrog Explorer Globe, ARV: $89.99 each. Odds of winning: 1:5,743

So you're odds are just as good to win a Wii as it is a Leapfrog thingy. Not to bad. And you have to think those odds are based on how many they send out, not everyone will actually use it. I personaly think I'll be raiding the neighborhood newspaper stands, taking the Toys R Us ad out of every paper I find...heeheehee.

The only downfall is you have to buy something to find out if you're a winner, or

To see if your "NO DEAL" game piece is a winner without a purchase, send an SASE to: "Deal or No Deal NP," c/o Little & King Co., LLC, 31 Merrick Ave., Suite 150, Merrick, NY 11566, no later than 10/22/06. Winners will be confirmed by mail on or about 11/24/06.

But forget all that. I'll take my suitcase in, buy some gum and either win something or get 5% of my gum.

I think Nintendo may be giving away as many Nintendo Wiis as Sony is shipping day one in Japan.

(Note that other places besides Toys R Us are also giving away Wiis.)
