Memory cassettes

Really: Internal 512MB flash memory and additional memory can be gained via SD cards.  It is also possible it will be able to connect to USB mass storage devices

Not intially.  It was confirmed that you can't hook up memory devices via the Wii USB ports.  That can change in the future, because the console's internal software is upgradable, so claims Nintendo.

Well at least it accepts non-Nintendo brand memory cards, that is definately new for a console.

New for a Nintendo console and totally awesome. I couldn't be happier that Nintendo is allowing us to just buy any sort of SD Card and drop it in the Wii. Not to mention the fact that I have an SD Card reader so I can back up my saves to my fileserver. I was actually thinking of putting up a website called wiisavexchange.com where everybody could sign up and post wii save files organized under each and every game, then members and non-members can download the saves. Is this something people here would be interested in?

Mr. Jack, I think that is a great idea.  Several people like to just rent games and experience them...or may not be great at games so being able to play a game already further along is pretty cool.

Create it...because if you don't you know somebody else will.
