Stay tuned for my pseudo-LIVE coverage!

- Perrin starts off by interviewing the interviewer. She has a habit of doing this...
- Is he a gamer? "Yes, since NES." Did he like what he saw today? "Some of it."
- What did he like and not like? "Disappointed about no HD. He understands gameplay over graphics, but graphics matter a little."
- Perrin: It's a cost matter more than anything. (She has HDTV herself)
- Why $250? "A lot of power in compact space. Expensive to make."
- Not taking a loss. breaking even. (counter to what Reggie says.) But will quickly make money. But the business on the whole is profitable from the start (as always).
- White-only (for now) for ease of manufacturing during launch. Avoid inventory issues in a rapid selling season. 55% of revenues come in the 4th quarter. Busy time.
- Why November and not sooner? "Inventory, wanted to wait to do a worldwide launch the right way." Mentioning Sony's problems.
- Started planning the controller/system while finishing gamecube. They did the "race" (competing with GameCube) for 6-8 months and then decided this is not what consumers want (in a mass way). (Me: Sounds like Iwata was tapping influence at this point.)
- "Revolution" has different meanings around the world. Parent company wanted something more meaningful to what the system is. It can't be shortened. and it was unique. Expected the reaction to the name.
- Reaction received at E3: Expected people would either hate it or love it.
- Waited to release so much info because it's need-to-know and yadda yadda, you know the answer.
- preorders depend on retailers.
- Goal: For hardcore players to have new challenges. Simple enough for those that left gaming or never played.
- Wii channel plans: Will eventually go further than what was announced today. Built to be flexible.
- $60 controllers. This is expensive to make and "not everybody wants the accessory. May just wants to play tennis."
- Why regular batteries: Not sure.
- 3rd party controller accessories: Likely.
- Acknowledges some games are a bit slugggish with Wiimote. Could be the setup. Could be calibration. Wants to know if it's still not better by time of launch.
- Undecided on "friends codes" or what methodology to connect. Successful even though not everybody likes the friend codes.
- Gave Zelda Wii higher priority so as to make it to launch. "Not necessary" to push the Wii version over GCN version.
- 30 VC games at launch, average of 10 a month starting in January
- 512MB built in flash memory.
- Thinks the others are competition, but also doesn't. Doesn't want to go their path. They're going more and more niche. Wii is about getting everyone to play. More about software than hardware.
- Highly doubt this will be Nintendo's last console.
- Will see another handheld "when it's time." DS is kicking.
- She personally is into the tennis and bowling launch games.
- Will have more to say about WiiConnect 24. Lots can happen.
- "Definitely" getting more 3rd party support over GameCube
- No DVD playback.
- Wii Discs are proprietary, but DVD sized. Claims region free.
- Expects 4 million Wiis globally for the year. US to get majority.
