Questions we expected to have answered...
« on: May 09, 2006, 02:50:54 PM »
I understand that they're not telling us the launch date or the price. I'm ok with that. And maybe some of these questions will be answered by the week's end. But there just seem to be SO MANY issues that were practically ignored at the press conference... Here are some issues whose absenses confuse and worry me...

What games are on-line multiplayer, and what games are not?

What all will come packed in with the system?

Can't we have more details on VC and Wi-Fi? connect24 is a nice announcement because it shows they're working on stuff, but a simple demonstration of some of this would have been helpful. As it is, I can only speculate that they have a TON of work to do as far as figuring it all out. Is it like XBox Live at all? Do you get a buddy list? How much are games?

How about a status update on SSB?

Interesting tidbits were dropped here and there (the speaker, independent developers doing VC work, etc) but for the most part all we got were demonstrations of games that did not turn out to be very surprising. And one of those games was originally a GC project.

What issues' absences counfounded and angered you?

Maybe we will see the return of Space World and everything will be answered then...

I just want to know about Smash and VC games personally...

The explanation of the name Wii.

It's not necessarily bad that there's still some uncertainty about the system.  That keeps people interested.  Also, tell me which situation is better: (1) The media reports the console's price/features and after that it is not mentioned until launch day, several months later;  (2) The media continually releases new, fresh information, albeit in smaller quantities, and public interest/knowledge is maintained right into launch.
