Topic: Dongle Problems

My Dongle is starting to crap out very often, 3/4 of the time my PC wont even recognise it when I plug it in, and when I can get it working the WiFi program just closes for no reason any time it wants. I had no problems at all in the first week and a half, but now it's acting crappy already. Anyone else with a Dongle share similar problem? I've tried re-installing the software, didn't help, it seems to be a problem with the actual WiFi USB Connector hardware.

Wow - in the other thread this happened when he was trying to install it... maybe it is the dongle itself.

Alright, I re-installed it again, and now i'm getting the same problem as Feep is in the other thread.

It isn't the Dongle itself, because I just tried it on my brothers computer which is identical to mine (MINUS some possible software or setting on my Windows that may be tampering with things), and it worked flawlessly, the light on the Dongle was flashing and everything. This is driving me nuts, Nintendo are useless too "oh umm duuhh durr we dunno lol , we're doing nothing to even try to fix it, but we'll get back to you while we eat cheeseburgers glumphgd"

It sounds to me like a classic USB installation issue.  I've seen similar things happen to printers and scanners.

Damn, if only I could remember exactly how.. but anyway, it ususally has something to do with a botched install that never uninstalls because it has more to do with USB than it does the actual device.  Try googling some manual uninstall instructions for the adaptor.  Sadly, it's so new, there probably isn't much out there.

Mario, I saw this on the Nintendo boards...

"Ok, i found a way!Insert the disk, then go to my computer right click it, and go to explore/ browse. Then go to the Nintendo WFCreg folder, then soft AP, then click on DEVremove, just keep clicking yes, and ok! then retry it! hope that helps! =D"

If you haven't tried it yet, there is a chance that that will uninstall it enough to solve your problems... I kind of doubt it though.

Thanks for the reply, I googled around and found lots of instances of this happening with USB devices, the problem is I can't really find the driver files, or whatever files have been added or changed since it started screwing up. I've found some that were installed the same day / time I last installed the WiFi USB Connector, deleted them, still nothing.

I tried the DEVremove.exe file, still nothing.

I'm thinking of copying some Windows files from my brothers computer and pasting over mine with them... it's risky though, so i'll have to research doing something like that first.

Mine works, thankfully. Though it wasn't connecting at first. Turned out that PeerGuardian was blocking it.

Good news, Buffalo have replied to the issue and they say they are working on fixing it, updated drivers should be available soon.

And I don't mean my Nintendo WiFi Adapter.
