I was looking at those "illegal" scans of the upcoming nintendo power UK, and saw that in the on of the photo's Link is riding towards a boss (sub-boss maybe) on his horse with his sword raised, now i'm sure you've all seen this video, but what struck me is that the sword was in his left hand. i don't really feel like popping a zelda game into my cube to confirm this, but i'm pretty sure that he usually holds the sword in his right hand. Now usually this doesn't matter, but in the case of the revmote it kind of does. the page with the pic, say image yourself with the nunchuck in one hand and the hand raised ready to strike down, if the Link i'm playing with is left handed, it would be a fairly unnatural movement to swing the sword (at least while holding the nunchuck, and in the position of the pic) in the necessary fashion. Anyway on to my point, and the name of this thread, a lot of simulation/rpg's (from nintendo) have the option of choosing a boy or girl as the main character harvest moon, pokemon so on, for the rev it would seem they are also going to have an option to for which hand you play with. stupid huh? yes, so the name of the topic, any other foreseeable or tottally imaginative options going to be available or necessary for this new control scheme? feel free to bash my topic also, or just comment. :-)
Silly monkeys; give them thumbs they make a club and beat their brother down. How they survive so misguided is a mystery. Repugnant is a creature who would squander the ability to lift an a eye to heaven conscious of his fleeting time here.

I was also going to say that sprite-mirroring aside, Link has always been left-handed.

I believe Miyamoto himself is, and there's this belief that left-handed people are generally more creative and so artists tend to be.

I suppose any game where the Revolution controller is meant to be for direct control in a first-person perspective, the character will be left-handed or right-handed or ambidextrous or whatever you are.  I don't think it would be necessary to have asymmetrical characters.  I don't see any one-armed characters being major characters getting a Revolution game, or any game of their own anytime soon.

Link is, like Miyamoto, ambidextrous.

I think there was a suggestion in one of these threads that I read once, suggesting that Link uses an old European fighting style (I don't remember it's name) which has you fight while using your shield with your dominant arm, for a greater emphasis on defense and survival, while you wait for openings in your opponents defense, which don't exactly need crushing force.

Every day God creates a few people that just don't come out perfectly, but all the rest are right handed.

Forced right handed dominance actually did begin with swords and shields.  If you are coming at your opponent with your shield in your right hand, that makes it easier for your right-handed opponent to find an opening on your left side.

This is a very interesting point to bring up and one that im sure nintendo will have its bases covered.  If you look to the DS it was designed with left-handers in mind and now that you have a free moving controller, games will also have to have the option for lefties to play the games.  If developers dont raise this issue it could be a problem with the left-handed gaming community but would be funny to watch their uncoordinated movement.

Its interesting what sort of new issues will arise in game development with this style of controller.
