Topic: planetgamecube not for gc anymore?

Is it just me or has anyone else noticed pgc is more about Nintendo DS and Revolution lately than actual Game Cube news and discussion, is the Cube really dieing so soon or whats up. I so wanted it to last longer and do better.



So ok to start a Game Cube topic and keep Planet GameCube going I want to aska few questions and make a few observations. This is going to be for fun and all so don't take it personal ok.

next your favorite Game Cube moment

Mine was actualy when I played MK DA fopr first time, the opening movie where Lui Kang died was so cool for me. I loved every minute of that game but the opening movie just drew me in.

Mine is hands down Game Boy Player I love that thing to death. I sure wish it had sold better and Nintendo had marketed it better cuz that was a way to sell systems people didnt know about or were miseducated on.



List your favorite moments in GC games.


1. MK Deadly Allience when Lui Kang Dies, that was an awesome moment.
2. Every time in Star Fox Adventures I freed a Krazoa Spirit it was so cool and yeah pretty cool.
3. Sonic ADventure DX when you flash back to the temple scense with all the other -whatever-knukles-is guys running around. That was my favorite part of the game.
4. Playng Harvest Moon and getting the girl I wanted to marry me. That was a challenge.
5. Playing Mortal Kombat II in its arcade perfect form on my Wide Screan HD TV in Full Dolby Pro Logic II on my Sony DTS Sound System. FINISH HIM!
6. Playing Mario Sunshine and getting to the first level that didnt have FLUDD in it, now if the game had played like that the whole time I would have finished it.
7. Metroid Prime opening movie, that scared the crap out of  the little girl we baby sit and it was hilarious, well ujntil I had to comfort her and explain it was only a video game.
8. Same girl, first time we played Star Fox Adventures when i first went into the SHop every time the keper would say put that down yo9u dont have enough Scarebs, yeah it was so cool hwo she reacted every time. (you really do have to play these games with little kids to get the full effect)
9. Watching Heather, thats her name, beat Soul Caliber 2 all by herself, damn was that an easy game fun but easy.
10. Seeing the Duck Hunt Ducks in Smash Bros Mellee, that was the siznit for me.


What was your most dispointing moment in GC


I have to honestly say mine was when they announced that Area 51 was getting canceld, I wantd that game so badly and taht was when I started to see how serious it as that game developers were quiting on us.

Mine is Future Tactics, I cant beleive how much fun a 2.99 bargain bin game can be.

What pursuaded you to get your GC

Me It was the Legend of Zelda Collectors Edition Disk, before that I was on the fence cuz I still enojoyed my PS1 and N64 but when I saw that I couldnt resist and got me a GC and GB Player day one.


What was the first game you played for GC?

Mine it was that Zelda Collectors Disk, then Sonic Adventure DX, teh first made for GC game I played was MK DA.

What was the first GC game you beat.

For me it was Mortal Kombat DA, I played that game all day everyday until I had every thing beaten and unlocked on all difficulties.

Do you have more Nintendo made games than non or vice versa?

Me I actualy only have 5 games made by Nintendo all the rest are 3rd party, and I have over 30 games now.


If you could change 1 thing about your GC what woudl it be.


I would say I would have made more Online games so I could play agianst my freinds.
That or I woudl have made FF CC a real FF game instead of what it was.


IF you could have 1 systenm exclusive proted over to GC what game woudl it be?

From Playstation 2 it would be Shinobi

Xbox it would be Panzer Dragoon.


If you could go back in time and buy one of the other systems instead would you have done it?

me, no frigin way, GC had its disapointements but there sure was a lot of good games to keep me playing.

If Nintendo announced tehy would DELAY Revolution a whol nothe ryear to maek more games, and decided to release a few canceled games for GC

A) Buy more games for GC
B) go and get some of the older games you missed
C) buy a PS3.xbox 360
D) give up on video games completely.



I would go with B, I would rather go back and play games I missed than try and get new games meant for other systems.


My last question and then i have a couple things to say.

Me I have to say I am fairly satisfied with my GC but in all honesty I would haev jumped ship along time ago if it wasnt for how hard I pushed my friends to get a GC and I didnt want to back down.


But there has been just barely enough games to keep me satisfied.



Ok so have fun and feel free to get all sappy and emotional or what ever floats your boat but lets try and keep this going for a while with civil discussion considering we gather here at Planet GAMECUBE lets keep the GAME CUBE alive for a while longer.

As the premier fanboy on these forums, even I have to say the Gamecube is pretty much dead...It's been an absolutely fantastic system, but one really just needs to open his or her eyes and realize that the system has entered its last year...Thankfully, we still have a few more games to look forward to, such as Odama, Kirby, and of course, Zelda, to hold us off a little till the end (even though that's not that much)...

But you should have a DS anyway to pass the time till the Rev comes out!

The thing is the Gamecube is on its last legs. There are only a few titles worth purchasing before the Revolution. Also nowhere in your initial post did I read anything about what you are looking forward to on the cube. All you wrote were memories and great experiences while playing, this doesn't really keep the gamecube spirit alive.

I think there is very little happening on the Gamcube front atm.  In australia we are getting 3 new gamecube games from now until the end of March as opposed to:

30 XBox360 games
51 PS2 games
34 XBox games
28 PSP games
15 DS games
7 GBA games

This is the very reason I have a PS2 to keep me occupied in the middle of the drought season.

I love the Cube as much as anybody, but the last few months have been shamefully deficient in games. I've bought maybe 2 games in the last 6 months (Gun and Geist). I can't blame most of the people here for looking ahead to the Revolution, because there's not much to see here until Zelda hits stores (and as was said above: god only knows when that'll be).

There's really noting coming out for the GC, the only titles I picked up somewhat recently (half a year I hink...) were Paper Mario and Gotcha Force because I saw them in bargain bins.

vudu: No thanks, I can't stand turn based tactics games. Tactical thinking isn't my strength, especially not in the level of micromanagement required for turn based games.

Yeah, the Cube is dying down, for sure.  I personally still have plenty to keep me busy going back to old games and looking forward to Chibi Robo and Zelda, but it's going to be a sloooooow year.

Probably launch night for the GC. I was at Walmart at midnight, wasn't sure if I was going to get one, and was just excited that if everything worked out I'd be playing GC games all day Sunday (the next day). It's kind of sad that I don't think anything topped that moment for me but I still had a ton of fun with the GC.

Probably my controller extension cords (haha). I have a Wavebird but I just prefer to have the rumble. Therefore, the extension cords work out well.

In no order--

--playing the Resident Evil series for the first time
--spending nearly a year playing Animal Crossing
--jumping off the castle walls in Prince of Persia
--feeling like you were part of a cartoon in Zelda
--much too many to list


***What was your most dispointing moment in GC***

Without a doubt learning that Rare would not be producing anymore games for the GC after Star Fox Adventures...there went Donkey Kong Racing, Kameo, Perfect Dark, Banjo-Kazooie, Conker, and many others.


***Biggest Surprise hit for GC***

Probably Baten Kaitos. I waited a long time before buying it because most said the whole card system was a turnoff. Well, I absolutely loved the card system and wish more games were like that. I'm also surprised by The Lord of the Rings: The Third Age which I'm playing through right now.


***What pursuaded you to get your GC***

The thousands of enjoyable hours I got out of my NES, SNES, and N64 had me lining up on launch night to grab my GC.


***What was the first game you played for GC?***

Luigi's Mansion...I got that along with Waverace: Blue Storm at launch.

Luigi's Mansion...fun but short and not very difficult.

The look....it just didn't have the coolness factor from the very beginning. Many people passed over it which meant less games were made for it.

I'm satisfied with my GC. I still play it almost every day as I still have older games I haven't played through yet. Although there are only 3 or 4 GC games scheduled for '06 that I'm interested in, I have a large backload of games to play through. I won't be bored. But to be honest my DS gets more playtime right now.

-The timing of some stuff.. getting WW for my 18th birthday, getting FZero the first or second day of college, TP will come out near my 21st.

Super Mario Sunshine, which came with the system. Hey, I had the choice between SMS, REmake and ED, SMS clearly was the best choice for a first game.

No. The GC was the only one in my price range at the time, I wouldn't have bought the PS2 any earlier than I did, anyway.

A, if there were any, of course B (but for the PS2 since older GC games are a rare sight). Perhaps a bit of C but I suppose the PS3 will be too pricey and neither will offer any games I care about so probably not C. And definitely F.

Sega stopped supporting the Dreamcast and I really wanted Super Monkey Ball

Probably... I had a lot of fun with the Cube, but the lack of RPGs eventually compelled me to get a PS2. Late in the generation I'm finding the PS2's library much deeper than the Cube's and honestly I've only bought one or two Cube titles in the past year. It's a nice second console, but for someone who plays as many games as I do, it's just not deep enough in some key categories.

Probably A and C... I'm already looking at the Revolution more as a second console... there might be a Cube game or two I still want (OK, there's definitely at least a couple).... but by and large I'd probably just get a PS3 and then wait until the Revolution's been out awhile before I jump on the bandwagon as a second system. I might do that either way though unless the Rev really wows me at E3

I'm not playing it much anymore, and near the end of when it was my only console I probably was playing it more because I didn't want to admit that it wasn't offering everything I wanted and I really wanted to become a Nintendo fanboy (like I was with Sega).

Bill I hope you've tried Baten Kaitos for at least a few hours before making that decision.  I'm no fan of cards myself, and I loved that game.
