Trade Pokemon between French - English versions?
« on: January 25, 2006, 03:03:47 AM »
Has anyone tried to trade Pokemon between a French gameboy game and an English one?
I have a French Pokemon Silver and my friend has an English Pokemon Crystal, but in the Trainer Guide it says that trading between different language versions might damage/erase your saved game. Does anyone have experience with this? Is it possible? The gameboys we're using are Advance SP.

Somehow I don't think the model of Game Boy will make a difference.  I could be wrong, though, who knows?

I'm guessing the Japanese and (North American) English versions won't.  The Pokémons' names in kanji and in the alphabet wouldn't be carried over properly even if somehow they were to be traded.  And that's just the minimum in damage, I would guess.

English and French, though?  No idea.  Unfortunately it's probably not a common enough situation for anyone to have documented...

Years ago, I tried it with my Green version over to my US Red. And it worked, but something wasn't right, im not sure what though. I have no idea how it would work with today's GBA versions.
