Topic: Websites with console and software sales statistics?

I was curious if anyone knew of any websites that not only had statistics on the sales of current consoles but also of consoles in the past, because I'm doing a research paper on the rise of video games to being one of the largest markets in the entertainment industry. I'm not sure if this belongs in this forum, so if it doesn't I apologize in advance. Any help would be appreciated though.
