Friday the 13th & Full Moon
« on: January 12, 2006, 07:16:34 AM »
So, like tomorrow is a two for one kind of days.  It's Friday the 13th, and it's going to be a Full Moon.  So instead of just the regular superstitions, you have to figure in that tomorrow will also have all the crazy people come out.

I think I will lock all the doors and stay inside tomorrow!

I don't know why a lot of people call Friday the 13th one of the worst games on the NES.  I'm sure I could think up many worse games.  I always had trouble finishing it but I did enjoy it.  I never did watch any of the movies so I'm wondering if it's just the horror fans that spaz at a probably-poor adaptation.  But isn't that the norm for many movie-based games?

WTF is jon talking about?
Why must all things be so bright? Why can things not appear only in hues of brown! I am so serious about this! Dull colors are the future! The next generation! I will never accept a world with such bright colors! It is far too childish! I will rage against your cheery palette with my last breath!

Friday the 13th was an impossible game. I have yet to meet any that would even consider lying to say that they beat the game. Thats how impossible that game was.

I really don't know.  nitsu niflheim's talking about superstitions and then you jump in talking about a NES game that shares the name with one of the superstitions.

Unless he was quoting a line from the game or something.

I'll wander around lonely, open areas in hope that a cute magical girl (preferrably with cat's ears but you can't have everything) appears and wants me to take her home with me.

The funny thing about Friday the 13th for the NES is that it was released during a time where kids were considered the entire game audience.  So thus it was a game made for kids based on source material that was incredibly inappropriate for kids.

Robocop and Terminator had a lot of merchandise aimed at kids too despite being R-rated movies.  Any politician who complains about gaming now should look at what was going on then.  Sure the games didn't have questionable content but the developers were quite obviously assuming that the kids were familiar with the R-rated source material.

Anyhoo the combination of full moon and friday the 13th is pretty neat.  I don't believe in superstitions but I'll still make a point to bring my cat in early.  Don't want any weirdo "wizards" or whatever in the area to sacrifice him or anything.

In Spain they have Tuesday 13th as the bad luck day, and I suppose we inherited that from them, the movies were translated as "tuesday" instead of "friday", but giving we are a mix of everything and north american  pop culture has a big infuence,  friday the 13th is starting to be seen also as a bad luck day.

Last May, on Friday the 13th, my hard drive failed.  I lost a lot of stuff.  ;_;

Maybe I should be wary.
