Nintendo wants to know!
« on: May 10, 2005, 11:15:31 AM »
Yep.  Checkin my email today, I found one of Nintendo's survey requests.  This one happens to be all about online gaming.  Some of the questions may reveal a bit of nintendo's online intentiion.  Toward the end they asked what games we would like to see online, with a like comprised of:  Animal Crossing, Zelda, Mario Kart, SSB and some other good candidates,

check it out

Yeah..its an incredibly interesting survey...  Great to see they want to know what the fans think... my only beef is that research like this usually only occurs in the very early stages of development...  I think this lowers the chances of having some e3 bombs dropping (IE Smash Bros DS Online, etc).

I answered it very truthfully though.... and found myself saying i didn't want online for several titles (Zelda, Metroid, etc.)

I keep getting "Thank you for your interst" pages as though I've already filled out this survey, and others I've asked are getting the same.  Either this survey has been around for a while and I filled it out too long ago to remember, or Nintendo is playing head games.

I think that's because there is an entry-number thingie at the end of the URL. This should work better.

Why don't you play video games over the Internet (online gaming)? Please check all that apply

Don't want to pay online connection fee for gaming (like subscription to Xbox Live)

The only thing that concerns me about online play in all these games coming out is the fact that most are implemented poorly, and in some cases, take away much needed development for the offline content of the game.

Agreed, MrAustin.  Actually, I believe Miyamoto has said roughly the same thing in the past: it's a great extra feature, but not something worth implementing at the cost of the offline modes.
