I went to Gamestop tonight, and asked the store manager (who is partial to Nintendo, you can tell by the things he says, he is pro Nintendo).  Anyways, I said "so, do you guys have any ballpark figures on the price and release date of the DS?"  (Since they recently started taking preorders anyways, I thought maybe he knew more).  I quote him here: "Between $150 to $200."  Then I said, "so what, like mid November?"  And I quote him here: "The end of November."  (he said it with confidence.)  He then said, "They gotta get the production going."  "There could be shortages."

Anyways, what I get from this (him being the manager, a good manager, who is pro nintendo), that the DS will be out by the end of November definitely.  As for the price, I'd like to think and I have a feeling it can't be more than $150.

Anyways, another thing I overheard from some xbox owners talking to the employees there, is that there could possibly be a midnight opening for the release of Halo 2.  That's something unheard of for Gamestop...  They must have huge preorders...

"They must have huge preorders" you can't be serious.  Have you been under a rock for the past three years.  Halo 2 is the single most pre-ordered game ever.  GTA SA is coming close, but Halo 2 has been taking pre-orders for three years.  A midnight release would be the kind of thing to cause riots.  Its a good idea for people like me who don't want to wait in a line at 3 in the afternoon.  The problem is getting in trouble for having a hundred people sitting outside your store a one in the morning making all kinds of riotous noise waiting to get their hands on the game of the year. well maybe second place to burnout 3 which is amazing, too bad it won't come to cube.

Uhhh I know it has tons of preorders...  And no Gamestop has not been taking pre-orders for the game for 3 years...

Like I said about the whole midnight thing: "That's something unheard of for Gamestop... They must have huge preorders..."

hey, sorry to interrupt your Halo bantering, but if you guys saw the news on the Japanese tour, you should realize that means we'll be seeing the final lineup of games by November 3rd at the latest.

That's the japanese lineup most likely.  And november third is kinda late.  The system will probobly come out not two weeks after that.  Not nearly enough time to get billfolds ready.  They have to release the lineup in mid october, for their customers sake.

Not really software line up will take awhile to finilize since they probally will not know what will be ready for launch from the third parties until the last minute. They probally have a ballpark figure what will be ready from them.
Stupidity is lost on my. Then again I'm almost always lost.

I'm a cost efficient gamer, I need to know when games are coming out a long time before they come out.  Especially during the christmas shopping season.  I want certain games, my girlfriend wants certain games, my five younger siblings want certain games.  I want to know when the DS is coming out and what games are going to be available at launch.

You will know long before they're out, but long doesn't mean mid-September apparently.
