Majesco Ships Two New Properties for Game Boy Advance Video; 'Yu-Gi-Oh!' and 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' Available in Stores Now

EDISON, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 21, 2004--Majesco Holdings Inc. (OTC BB: MJSH), a leading publisher and distributor of interactive entertainment products, announced that it has shipped two new Game Boy(R) Advance Video(TM) products, Yu-Gi-Oh! Vol. 1 and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Vol. 1, to retail outlets nationwide. Both products are a result of Majesco's previously announced agreement with 4Kids Entertainment, Inc. (NYSE: KDE) to publish a total of 12 episodes of 4Kids' high-profile cartoon programs.

Ideally timed to coincide with the Yu-Gi-Oh! theatrical release next month, Majesco's first Yu-Gi-Oh! Vol. 1 offering features two episodes, Friends 'Til the End, Part 3 and 4, while Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Vol. 1 includes Things Change and A Better Mousetrap.

not only do the GBA videos make the Game Boy name seem even more juvenile
but the display cases are damn near full of these
leaving no room for anything worth buying

Besides, I dont see how you can re-watch a Yu-Gi-Oh episode. I wouldnt be suprised if their card game wasnt finished by episode two.

One of my Best Buys has a table of all the GBA videos. My god, its full.

Heres an idea: Use the GBA video IN games, I'm sure it'd work quite well for in-game cutscenes...

No thanks. That'll just invite developers to port their 3DO or Sega CD games over. "Hey guys, watch the video clip for five minutes, then press B. You win!"

That's a great idea, except the current videos can't play on the Game Boy Player.  I doubt many developers want to sacrifice GBP compatibility for compressed FMV.

I'm sure that if they incorporated some sort of 3DO-ish "game" factor into the episodes (or just made games with lots of Majesco-brand FMV compression), they'd be able to play on the GameBoy Player.

It only makes sense that the GBP-incompatibility is there to keep somebody's "home video rights" from getting stepped on. If it's been turned into some kind of "game" and not just a "movie", they'd most likely lift the GBP-incompatibility.

I'd like to play Sonic CD on my Game Boy Advance...

plus, developers were already able to incorporate video on GBA titles well before GBA Video. Ubi Soft did it with a couple of Disney games.

Sonic CD would lack the awesome soundtrack on GBA, though.
